Dealer just called back, inviting me to come in and order.
£20k deposit. No demo cars for at least a year.

The test drive call from Milan seems all bs now...

Got the call from Milan yesterday too.
Apparently lots of interest from the UK!

She said Italian/LHD drive cars are already available for test drives, but was unsure about RHD.
+1 also had this

Also got a call from my local dealer, 300 units RHD allocation on global basis (not just UK) in the first year, 18 months delivery but apparently more important clients will get their delivery in 10 months time. Anyone can place an order for the second production year but the delivery will be in 24 months as the factory is prioritising the LHD. Will have convertible and mild hybrid version later down the road. Of course it will have Stradale version ultimately but apparently HQ says engine output won’t see meaningful increase, just like what happened to GT Stradale (more about transmission/exhaust rather than engine improvement). It will also launch a program similar to Mclaren’s MSO, focusing mainly on colour customisation and extra exterior carbon pieces. This will only start from Sep 2021 which means the delivery will start only from mid 2022. No test drive available in UK in foreseeable future. HQ planned to offer selective UK clients to test drive in Italy but give the strong demand, it canned it last minute apparently.

I’m loving the different info on offer hehe

I’ve got missed calls from Carrs in Exeter - which I presume is the local test drive/deposit, etc call.
Meanwhile I’ve got an invite for a test drive in Milano arranged.

I’m cynically amused to see Maserati operates on exactly the same lines as Alfa!

Carrs Exeter haven't tried calling me. Guess I'm not on their radar and they're already overwhelmed with interest. I'm not motivated enough to put down £20k. If the world economy implodes in the next 12 months might never see it again!

There are too many unknowns regarding timing of delivery, test drives etc to commit to a £20k deposit..I've expressed interest in a drive and had a response yesterday which was rather vague..I have driven an F8 and will probably get one of those instead if they can promise delivery in 12 months or so.
Still love the MC20, just not totally convinced regarding the ownership experience compared to a Ferrari. There still needs to be a lot spent on options if you want the Forged rims, CF exterior plus roof and CF seats which makes it dear compared to an F8 at only £15k more with an extra 90HP.

Yes, I also hope the Maserati lives up to expectations and won't be the let down Alfa's 4C turned out to be. As you say, with Dallaras involvement it should be quite a thing. They need to be as good if not better than Ferrari at a lower price to make an impact.

No such concerns about the F8, especially as you've already driven one. It really must be good when you say it's the best car you've driven. And you're comparing your RS WP!

The 4C isn’t a let down. It is absolutely brilliant...made even better by the modern Chequered Flag boys Ben and Jamie..

You think MAC depreciation is bad, Maserati is the twin brother. The next 12 months will cause seismic market changes in this bracket. Powder dry IMV.

No doubt the David Brent’s will be happy to be seen cutting about in some gauche trinket but personally I could think of nothing worse.

I think it looks great, it’s the first car for a very long time that I’ve rushed to put a deposit on before seeing it in the flesh. I was starting to get bored with some of the new cars from Ferrari, McLaren, etc. I think Maserati have done a great job of the design, can’t wait to see it in the flesh.

I’m going to go for red..

Overcrowded market in very difficult times...will be flavour of the month for 6 months max and then tank as they keep churning them out once the order book has been fulfilled. No different to McLaren 12C

Personally i think this MC20 will buck the trend and hopefully restore Maserati's place in the world of supercar makers..IMO it seems both special enough and different to warrant great success..It deserves every accolade it receives..
There are too many doomsayers on Pistonheads these days in typical British fashion which resents others succeeding..

nice.

does anyone have any info on whether the cf room has to be uncoloured or the pain extends to the roof?

it's been hinted there will be other paint vairations etc coming soon. I'd rather hold off until I can get the mc12 look alike scheme on the go

Absolutely!. Think those doomsayers tend to come from a more financially challenged demographic, which thankfully I am not part of, living in an Oast House and holidaying abroad at least once a year. Back of the net.

If I get the finger from a poorer person, I just think well you should have worked harder in school !.
If you’ve got it flaunt it I say, whatever the circumstances.

It’s a bit bland / McLaren-esque but I’m glad Maserati are making a supercar it was a bit grim when they were only doing that awful 4x4 and some Saloon cars. The GT was a special car and was a shame when they stopped making it
