Picking a fight with Roy Walker's tube chassis dragster. You can see why his 60-foot times are 0.5 seconds quicker than mine (look at those slicks)



The only way to win was to join the RWYB queue. This was my worse run, I snaked so badly I thought I was going to change lanes

And if you're wondering how I got to run with the show dragsters, well as I was driving down to joing the RWYB queue, one of the marshalls mistook me for part of the show and instructed me to follow Andy Frost down to the start line. I started thinking "I shouldn't be here" when we stopped for photos at the grandstand. I edged past RV3 to leave them to it, telling Andy's crew that's the last time I'll overtake him. When I got to the start, one of the officials said they'd let me run for free if I joined the show. All I had to do was not look like a c*ck when racing the other cars. So I saved £25, but ended up looking like a c*ck when on my first ever launch I failed to get into stage and had to be told to move forward. And then I missed the green and had a 2.4-second reaction time.

First run 10.7 @ 140 - backed off just after launch 'cause I pooped myself
Second run 10.6 @ 138 - backed off 'cause I started to lose it
Third run 11.2 @ 139 (RWYB) - backed off 'cause I realy started to lose it
Fourth run 10.2 @ 141 - almost perfect

60-foot was rough 1.8 each time, so lots to do there
Best reaction was 0.12, so I'm going to lose a lot (according to John)
And John said only my last burnout deserved to be called one

Both John and I agreed that I need a bit more experience before we turn the boost up. In the meantime, Roy Walker suggested I join the Pro Mod ET and start racing as it is (apparently they need someone to come last all the time).

It's ok Rob...not many can say they beat the class winner (for the second year running),but I can!!!...You weren't the only supercharged scalp I took...I managed to beat a supercharged VXR8 auto, twice. Bloke was trying to sell it as well. Don't think his was tuned properly as he was running 13.7's...I did that when mine was standard.

Great day...and I'm a hero in my little boy's eyes as I won all my races...7/7.

Rob you have to post the picture you took of you and the 2 trophies!!

I was impressed with gareths son he went from 17 seconds to 13.5 in the ute, street tyres no burnout first time at Santa pod, never done any 1/4 mile runs before.

I was beating him until his last run when he destroyed my time by over half a second

That was a good improvement...no doubt he'll get quicker!!!

Wish my dad had a Ute that I could run down the strip!!!
