Any experts tell me on a VT how much wider my tyres can be on it if I roll the arches? I'm assuming 255s? if so what's the offset to allow it? 235s just are laughable....

Far to costly. I would otherwise. And would rather forge the engine and a few bits instead.

It's on the standard 8J 18x235 45s I think is the profile. Offset unknown bit got wheels of tomorrow so can check.

Would like new wheels and seen some I like. Need to find out the make of them. But want to know the max tyre to work out the rim width. The other option is arch extension like the thor car.

Before you take the wheels off, rey to measure the distance from the outside of the tyre to a line directly below the wheel arch lip inner edge (the wheel does rise in a slight arc so should still miss), and check for obstructions in the arch - such as an indent to take the rear door.

Also, try and find where the least clearance is on the inside of the wheel - usually where it runs past the suspension leg/spring. Measure this in fingers, if you can/prefer, then measure your finger width afterwards.

There are lots of discussions on this one already. Rolling is not advised especially on a 4 door.

I got a quote for custom 8.5" front and 10" rears with flared rear arches taken into the rear door for £15k.!!!

I put 255's on mine some time ago but the rears used to catch when fully loaded. I ended up having the inner lip trimmed back about 6mm and resealed, cost £75.

As new wheels are being discussed, and assuming there's room inboard, maybe a fatter tyre can be fitted by selecting a suitable offset, rather than playing with the arches.

At £15k, I agree that an arch kit is a bit expensive. eek

My thought too. Although a cut/trim resell might cause less rust in the future.

Its at the pointy bit down from the door handle... I believe it can be done but may crease the panel.

Did you have to enlarge the holes on that Gary? When we went to put one on ours, a few years ago, the studs were too fat. frown

All done. No paint cracking or ripples. Managed almost 26mm which should just be enough. Need to find a tyre with a sloping sidewall
