My build thread CV8
Discussion
Realised I havent updated this in a while
Not much has happened with the car apart from routine bits and pieces.
What has happened, is I bought a 6.0 Vxr
To be honest I was never fussed about the vxr, but this one came up with a great spec and I had to have it!
I swapped a the wheels and suspension over from the blue CV8, as its going up for sale I thought pedders shocks/springs would be a bit more appealing than coilovers!
So the CV8 has just had an mot and a tidy up, tracking is booked in this week then its up for sale.
Im disappointed i never got the cv8 to how i wanted but at-least i will be able to do it with the vxr now as my cam i bought will work in the Ls2, it just needs a differant timing gear set
I sold the rear lights of the cv8 to a chap in america and also popped the vxrs wheels onto it, looks quite good now!
The vxr needs a few bits doing, bushes are all shot on the front and i now need to set the ride height as its too low on the front and too high on the back!
Iv ordered the bushes, and got a buck load of oils sat on my desk so I can give the car a full service!
Slight noise from one of the idlers that needs sorting too!

Those wheels work quite well actually
I enjoy your updates as they're always a bit different!
Thanks! I enjoy your updates as they're always a bit different!
The wheels work so much better in person, photographs are not my strong point!
New bushes arrived from Monkfish, quite annoying I had just fitted new bushes on the Blue CV8 not long ago and now need to do the same job on this one!
Still atleast I know the quick ways to do it!
It will be interesting to see the difference between the Pedders and Polytuff bushes. I really rated the polytuff bushes from oz but they seem to have upped their prices and shipping costs so it doesn't make any sense dealing with the hassle in getting those from Oz anymore.
Picture because who doesn't like showing off new parts!

The car looks fantastic on them wheels
Do you know the weights of the front/rear wheels? Do you know what offsets they are?
Have you got a link to where you bought them from?
Cheers
Mike

Are the bushes easy enough to fit on a driveway? Mine is pretty creaky from the front over speed bumps now so I reckon the bushes are shot. Still atleast I know the quick ways to do it!

Totally depends on your car and what you have to be honest. The front radius rod bush takes about 5 minutes to swap.
On cv8 I had to drop the control arm from the hub/inner chassis and press out the old rear radius rod bush and inner arm bush.
If you have a press or you can run down to a garage a quickly zuss them out it can be done on a drive, I had to heat up a couple of the nuts to crack them off (i think they had never been touched!)

I thought it would be reasonably involved. All the fastenings on the underside of mine have been a pain to remove as well. Think I'll just go with trying to find the culprit and replacing that rather than doing the whole lot. The front radius rod bush takes about 5 minutes to swap.

More then likely top mount or front radius arm. Get someone to stand side on to the car and do a slow sharp brake. If the wheel pushes forward than your front radius bush is toffee
The inner and rear bush are so cheap it makes sense to do them all in one hit.
Cheers for the tip. Will check it out The inner and rear bush are so cheap it makes sense to do them all in one hit.
