Hi Everyone,

Need some help please - I think my rear wheel bearing might have collapsed on the way home - it made a couple of tinkling noises in the car park at work, I felt an odd shimmy, pulled over, couldn't see anything wrong so kept going (gently), then felt another shimmy, stopped, couldn't hear anything or see anything, was only half a mile from home so kept going very slowly and it started to make a grinding noise - stopped again, still couldn't see anything so nursed it the 1/4 mile os so home, got it up on axle stands to see this:

There doesn't seem to be a retaining ring or anything missing, compared to the other side, just looks to have totally collapsed?

Is it the wheel bearing? Is this going to be a part from down under?

Cheers smile

MF might have parts for it, but I would not be driving that any further.

If you're lucky it will just need a new bearing.

If unlucky it could need a new CV joint, hub and bearing ( and maybe driving flange )

Thanks guys -it's up on axle stands, not planning on driving it until it's sorted - I think the nut is still in place... will check in the morning...

I think the nut is still there - without taking the disc off it all seems to be (doesn't seem to pull out)

Here's the outer face of the hub:

Monkfish have a bearing in stock and I've booked it in with the local garage I use (Keith Edwards Motorsport in Ulverston) for next week - hopefully I haven't wrecked anything else!!!!

I'll get the other side done ASAP (Monkfish only had 1 in stock), as I figure if one has gone the other can't be far behind...

You're in Ulverston! Me and the wife both work in Ulverston. I am just down the road in Barrow, not seen another Monaro about though, soon to be moving to Thwaites near Millom. wavey

Hi Everyone,

Just an update to say that it's fixed - I got two new wheelbearings from Monkfish (speedy service as usual, thanks!) and the guys at Keith Edwards Motorsport in Ulverston fitted them last week (I picked it up today) - fortunately nothing else was damaged, just the offside wheelbearing, which practically fell out, the nearside took a while to get out, but that's now replaced as well :-)

Cheers for the help everyone :-)
