I was thinking about going to that too, my sister is at Chester uni so I've done the run a few times. Plus, my missus & lad are at TWO kids parties that day, which helps with the decision somewhat.

Hello Skinnyman. I have just (subject to balance payment on collection) sold my TVR T350 and I am collecting my Monaro on Friday. I am also in Derby so once I have it home, happy to catch up and let you have a look. :-)

Are you completely set on a Monaro? If you go and talk to James at Elite, he has a VXR8 that may tick a lot of your boxes - especially with children in tow.
No Phil......the man here has the correct car in his sights

Its about time we met up, I need to see / hear the ute.

As long as I can get an isofix base on one side, and a Recaro Young Sport on the other, I'll be going with a Monaro. Yes a VXR8 might be more practical, but ultimately it's the Monaro I want, plus the VXR8's I've seen that I'd want are £20k+, and at that stage you get into Lexus ISF/M3 sort of money. Small boot not really an issue either, as the youngest is already using a smaller fold up buggy in my car, the massive travel system setup stays in the wifes car.

Also, I thought my finance deal ended in June, it's actually August, so I've bought myself some more time with that. I could get an early settlement figure now, but the plan was always to buy the car from Ford, and then sell it on afterwards.

Get down to Chester on Sunday, mine will be there and its available shortly, bring your kids seats and try them for size at least then you will know. I have an isofix seat on one side and a booster on the other

My advice is find a car with a supercharger, rip shifter, exhaust and brakes. You'll bloody love it.
This. I did exactly this. I do love it.
Strangely, mine is also the same colour as Wormus' one too.... Odyssey is a nice but rare colour indeed. I do need some 'nicer' wheels mind.

Mine came with this spec; Harrop 112 Charger, Powerflow/Wortec Exhaust, AP Brakes, Pedders Suspension, Ripshifter, LS7 Clutch, Pedders Quickrack, Road Response Pack, Rear End Pack and some other little bits & pieces.

Recently dyno'ed at 435.RWHP and I bought in last Summer for a noticeable chunk less than a standard LS2 (6.0) VXR - which is the model I originally wanted....

Nice smile I really liked mine when it had its little 122hh blower, made about the same as yours (~500 fwhp) and was plenty fast enough for every day use. One day I was nearly out dragged by what must have been a remapped VW Golf Edition 30 so decided more power was necessary. 2 exploded engines and a horrific amount of expense later, It's just as I want it. Sure as hell worth more than £11k to me though.

Feel free to bring the buggy to try - there were a couple that we tried that did not fit in the boot of the Monaro (small boot).

Would of upgraded my brakes but at 2k its a big chunk of change, strangely I looked at the VXR upgrade but the facelift model only has 5mm less and MF said it was pointless for the outlay involved. I would imagine a SC would necessitate the AP`s or similar and SC models are usually pricey, Dave had a good deal as I know he looked at mine before I bought it and dropped on his instead

I used the recaro young sport in the monaro, actually bought two of them one for each car we had at the time we have changed wifes car for a mercedes E class coupe but the recaro wont fit in the rear buckets.

They fit well in a monaro though, when lad was small used the maxi cosi easy base system that had a leg down to the footwell and his seat just clipped in an out, that's newborn though.

Halfords sell a narrow seat that fits well in rears of coupes there own brand.

VZ CV8 brakes are indeed roughly the same size and there's virtually no difference with the callipers. AP brakes however are in a different league and worh seeking out.

Hi Steve, was nice chatting to you, cheers for the ride out.

I managed to have a good chat with a few people there on Sunday, and in a way I came away more confused than when I arrived. I had my heart set on a Monaro, but the more people I spoke to and the more I looked around the cars the more it's pointing towards the VXR8. With 2 young children I think the Monaro will have too many compromises, whereas the VXR8 seems to offer the same sensations, but in a more family friendly package.

To summarise, I still don't bloody know what I'm doing.
