My eyes have been opened to V12VS godliness...
Discussion
Yesterday I got to drive a manual V12 Vantage S around Millbrook's Hill Route for a few laps at a journo event.
Now, I knew they were good, many people have told me so, Chris Harris has been waxing lyrical about one recently and I know there are a few owners on here. But by God I didn't know quite how good it was.
Had an AM pro driver with me, but he was just there for advice, not slowing me down - best bit was the third lap we did entirely in 4th gear. Didn't touch the clutch once, I was absolutely staggered by the grunt and tractability of that engine!! Some corners are c.20mph and it just cruised around, then plant the pedal and it surges forward with consummate ease.
Any of you with these stunning cars, I am utterly envious. So so good.
Have got a GoPro head cam video of the lap that i'll share once I've uplaoded to YouTube.

Sounds like a cracking day out
Indeed it was! Standout cars from the day were of course the Aston, but also the Mini JCW Challenge was avsolutely hilarious. It really is a race car for the road, epic brakes and sucj sticky rubber, did 5 laps in it when I should've only done 3 I just couldn't stop! Conversely the latest Clio 200 Cup thing was just awful - dreadful engine note and a gearbox that was seemingly from 2001.Also drove an Evo 6 Makkinnen which was a bucket list car for me and it lived up to all my expectations.
Oh Beefy that's just the help I didn't need
Having driven one briefly a month ago I've been looking at them, doing man maths, and rationalising how much the carbon rotors will cost etc etc in an effort to move my focus back to my fabulous V8V
Now you've re ignited the whole process
Do I buy one don't I buy one do I buy one .....
Graze

Had mine for 2 months now - in the last month I've driven an Alfa Quadrigoglio
a Mustang, a Maserati Grancabrio, a bentley Mulsanne speed, a V12V Manual, a Mercedes AMG C63 S coupe, a Vantage Sportshift V12Sand An Aventador S, in total I've had around 120 cars including plenty of Ferraris and Porsches, but can say with hand on heart - this is THE BEST...
I've done nearly 2000 miles and it is amazing - it combines some of the best steering ever on a car with a very playful chassis and the V12 torque bring it completly to life...
Never been a fan boy before - swapped cars every 6 months or so, but this is a keeper :-)
If you are interested you might wan to take a look at my video of it here, its a bit wobbly for the first few seconds but gets better afterwards.

When I get back from hols in a week or so I'm going to do a 2000 mile follow up video - fortunately my ability in fornt of the camera and all the gimos has improved :-)
on the same channel is a review of the 600BHP Vantage upgrade that has just been released too,
Hope you like it...

Obviously i would love one, but even the man maths doesn't add up at present
I'll just have to keep waiting, hoping & loving my V8V
but this sort of thread should be banned on the basis that it could send some of us insane - or broke, or both, not sure which will come first!!!

I picked up my one on Monday. My advice BUY ONE. Sell a kidney if you have to. I traded in my V8 Vantage for it and the leap in performance, driving dynamics and fun are huge. This is a car that soon after production stops and it is replaced will be seen as one of the all time great Aston Martins.
Graze, just do it :-)
In years to come what other normally aspirated V12 manuals will be available that are also competent and great fun cars with looks to die for??
Picked up my Skyfall Silver V12VS Manual two weeks ago with under 800 miles on her
Now run in and simply an awesome drivers car.
Sold my 650S Spider to buy her and not missing the Mc. The Mc had immense speed and ability but little driver involvement- the V12VS simply provides everything that was missing in the Mc
Silver car at Leeds is very nice and Max is keen to do a deal!!
Fell in love with the skyfall colour otherwise was enroute to buy that car for less ££

I totally agree. I had both 12c and 650s spiders. Fast beyond belief but at normal speeds the V12VS is just way more fun. Only have Astons and an Alpina now.Sold my 650S Spider to buy her and not missing the Mc. Funnily enough I was offered that car by George at Bristol but I prefer a subtler shade. One man's meat is another man's poison.
..which is why I bought it instead. a dealer friend said I'll look like a 'gentleman thug' driving it. Edited by Quarterly on Sunday 28th May 16:02
