Hi All

My PH favourite Tiger Shed has arrived. Its an 8X5 pent so nothing massive but I want to get it installed right, dont want to be fixing it in 3 years time.

Base is all sorted, probably overkill. Im treating the walls with Ronseal 5 year woodstain which Ive used before, its quite thick and Im happy itll be ok.

So questions are around the roof.

Can I stain the roof with the same Ronseal? This would seem to add another layer of protection to me?

It came with some of this felt - http://www.rose-roofing.co.uk/rose-roofing-product...

Seems to be a reasonable quality, but it does mention using underlay, or should I fit something totally different?

Many thanks

Most shed felts are fairly dire.

Install vid here.

Based on the fact you do not have the equipment to torch felt on, try and get a roll of HT mineral, with any sand underlay. This won't tear or split like everyday shed felts.

EPDM is great for a shed roof.

I did my shed/lean to with the below Metal Panels. I then used an adhesive'd lead roll between it & the house. Looks very nice.

Metal Panels:

Fixing with built in sealing washer:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Forgefix-FORTFHT6332-Tech...

Then the 'fake lead' flashing:

Looks great, just ensure the metal panels are well supported, they are quite thin!

Thanks all. Think Im going to buy underlay and adhesive, then put the felt provided which seems to be reasonable quality on closer inspection. Should do the job, the shed will be in a sheltered spot which should help a little.

biggrin Nail, the underlay at 300 sq centres, bond the mineral. You will end up covered in adhesive.

Nail the selvedge of the mineral and on the headlap. Put a seperate flashing to cover.

I'm looking to use box profile metal roofing sheet for my shed (16x9ft) I saw exactly these panels and thought they might be a bit easier to work with!

What are they like do they distort at the screw holes easily? Can you post a pic?

Cheers!

The metal is very thin so needs 'back boarding' to plywood or equivalent. I used small screws, with repair washers & then the sealing washers that came with the ''specialist'' screws to secure metal to wood across the middle, then when I lifted them into position I used the metal sheet's top & bottom holes (with specialist screws) to screw through it all into the supporting joists. Makes it very solid.

I over lapped the metal panels as well, so there are no gaps between metal panels which would allow water to get to the wood. I should have used more of the ''lead adhesive' tape on the wall, instead of the panel (ie biased it to the wall & not that sheets) but the flat roofed 'shack' this replaced had nothing sealing the gap between it & the house and never let water in so i'm confident this will be fine.

Plywood/posts were all painted with black fence paint prior to being fixed to the metal panels, this is a sort of 'in progress' pic I took...

EDIT: Apologies for the orientation!

I'm currently most of the way into a shed renovation and am doing the roof in cedar shingles on rafters & battens.

Don't see why your way wont work though, I have heard that shed felt is not as good as the felt you get for flat roofs on houses.
