I'd be calling Amazon.

Does seem very strange given it would appear you offer free delivery.

Whats KEY is that the message was in my Amazon message centre ie not just an email - its obvious and stupid but I cant fathom it

When I make a sale it doesn't appear in my Amazon Message Centre at all. Customers can send me messages, though, and that appears to be what's happened.

Somebody has sent you a (poorly spelled) message to make you think that you've sold a microscope, in the hope that you pack and despatch it without realising that this isn't how Amazon normally notify you of a sale.

They probably want to return the item within the 7 day grace period and get a full "refund" for the £6k rather than sell it on.

Surely this is either an attempted fraud or attempted theft?

I'd be reporting the scrote.

Start with 101 and go from there.

If you can work out how to get the header information for the email then you could forward it to this address stop-spoofing@amazon.com whether they will be any more interested though I don't know.
