Some of you may remember I started a thread about getting a Monaro, and I veered towards a VXR8 instead, well I bought one yesterday, but more on that another time, I have a more pressing issue.

When I fire up the car the battery dial rolls around to about 14.6V, all good. But then as I'm driving I can watch the dial drop until 5minutes later it's sat around around 12.5V. It also seems to take some effort to fire the car up. This could be normal due to the engine size, I don't know enough about these cars yet. I don't think its an alternator issue, as I did a 6hr journey yesterday no problem, and the whole time the dial sat at 14.6Vish.

Any ideas?

The dial does drop off when the battery is charged up, it will not keep putting in 14.5 or it will cook the battery, vxr8's do turn over a bit slow/sluggish

So in other words, it's fine, stop worrying and just enjoy the car.

I'm a textbook over thinker

on the engineering display it will tell you battery charge/life etc , from memory hold down the left scroll button on the steering wheel when you turn the ignition on , i'm assuming it's on all r8's

Absolutely normal as others have said it will put in around 14.5 at the start then drop to around 12.5 when fully charged if it gets down to 12 or just under then there will be a problem wink
