None needed here. Originals still like new. I was just reposting an earlier picture in the thread wondering why the picture showed completely dry and consequently rusting metal. There seems to be more and more threads / postings on here regarding corrosion, folk trying to deal with it 15 years after it started, and folk looking at things like waxoyl to cure the rust problems that they already have. When they should have had the waxoyl on on day 1, then maintained it every year. This car went over the pit for its waxoyling the day after I took delivery of it new, and it gets a gallon of waxoyl to "top up" every year. The underside of it looks very different to the pictures I see posted on here in "Help! - Rust!" type threads. cheers

So, no straps needed here, but thanks for the thought!
I would have thought you had no need to wonder.
Not everyone has been fortunate enough to purchase and hold on to a Monaro from new. I certainly haven't been.
Also, many that did buy new, had no intention of keeping the car any length of time and so didn't give any thought the condition of the car 15+ years later. To them, it only needed to stay healthy for a few short years and it would naturally.
Many buyers in recent years also only bought to tick a box, own for a year or two then pass on having no concern to the longevity of the car. Like mine, last owner only had a year and spent nothing in his time with it.
So, it comes down to folk like me to try and turn these examples around and preserve what's left as best we can.

Thanks again VXR2010.
Just got round to fitting my set of stainless tank straps. I coated them in a few layers of black paint first so they blend in better! No real dramas fitting them. All the nuts and bolts came undone with relative easy. My originals are actually in a reasonable state, could easily refurbish them. They'll sit in the shed as spares now.
The O/S strap needed some better shaping, but otherwise all good. The rubbers from my originals were all re-useable as well.
Tip: I used a small mirror to physically see how the centre strap slots in above the diff, then it became easy and also reassuring.

no problem , mine have been on for quite a while as it’s an oldish thread but still look like new , if any one does want a set then shout up , but he only deals with 5 orders so won’t do a one off , that’s assuming he still has the blanks
Sorry for reviving an old thread, I'm a bit late to the party it seems! One of my tank straps has completely rusted through, do you know if he's still making these? If not, anyone know where I can get replacements from? I've seen some on ebay in Aus, but I imagine the postage would be crazy if they'd even post them, and there are some US ones but not sure if the Pontiac GTO parts will be the same. I have an '04 CV8.

If enough are interested I can speak to him again , it was a minimum of 5 orders last time , im hoping he still has the blanks as they were not easy to put together . PM me if you are up for a set hopefully around the same price .
Cheers, I've sent you a PM. Let me know if he can't do it or no-one else is interested and I'll keep hunting for another solution. I will speak to the guy next week , im out of play due to an op , if he’s still got the templates then we should be good to go , but I need three others to do it , I think the ones before including postage for all three was 150£ , it is a piece of stainless steel , it’s flexible but stronger than what’s on there now , it’s a strip of metal with no ridges and you should be able to use the original rubber strips , mine have been there for five years or so and look the same as when they were fitted
Hi Fred bloggs , No problem , making the middle one was definitely the most difficult to do , hopefully he still has templates , the stainless steel ones are thinner but stronger and more flexible , so easier to fit once they are cut to the correct size , but they are a slightly different fit to the steel ones due to the flex in them
