When you buy a new throttle body, does it come complete with a new throttle position sensor already attached, i.e the cylindrical bit that the wire plugs into? Cheers...

Mine did Dave but that was bought from monkfish a few years ago...i wrapped the wire plug in waterproof tape as ive water in the plug before which caused loads of different codes and symptoms all of which you have
Might be worth cleaning contacts and water proofing it before shelling out

Good idea, cheers for that Simon.......when you did install the new throttle body, was it just a case of one out, one in - or was there some 're-learning' involved with the ECU? I've even considered ditching the LS engine and installing an old skool Chevy V8 with a Holley 4 barrel on the top instead! Ha ha...

Throttle is a simple bolt on piece, it is not user serviceable ( although some do take them apart to paint or powdercoat etc )

But certainly if you believe it is screwed, trying contact cleaner etc would do no harm

Finally took the plunge and ordered an OEM throttle body from Rock Auto, and it worked out at roughly half the price of Partsworld and LS Performance! Including shipping and all import fees etc it came in at around £320. Just hope it cures the problem now! smile

Hey all,

I don't own a Monaro but I've tuned plenty a few LS1 and LS2 GTOs and Lumina SSs.

If you've got an electric throttle body and get a P1516 code, it can be tuned out easily. If there are other problems, before investing into a new throttle body, simply try cleaning the blade and surrounding area with AC Delco or sea foam. With the tolerance of error being less than a mm to trip a limp mode, any dirt build up can cause this to happen.
