CSK automotive in Hoddesdon.
Picked up the car after having Stage 4 treatment completed from CSK.

Looked like surface rust. Here's some photos of the work - I'd also recommend Chris at CSK automotive if you're looking to get something similar done. Distance and scheduling meant it was easier for me to get the car to Chris and pick it up a week later.

Thanks to all for help, comments and guidance.

A wise decision not to rust proof your car on your drive way at this time of year !!!!
I take it they found no hidden horror stories which needed welding up?
It is also nice to know that your car is protected from the salty roads for a few more years.
I tend to top up the corrosion protection myself every other summer while it's nice and warm.
No problems so far.

Looks like a proper job. The only way you can properly underseal your pride and joy is to take everything off. I did my last car with the Rustbullet system, with Blackshell final coat and the underside of the car looked as good as the paintwork. Not cheap and not the easiest to put on but the results are amazing.

Yes no hidden horror stories under the rust. It was surface only and removed.
Happy to have got it done.

Glad they worked out, I'll be back over there to get my next car done for sure.

Looks a good job. Shame it is so far away!

Hello all,

My first post in perhaps 10 years! Just had the MOT done on car and the tester showed me the rust which is starting to appear underneath. It looks somewhat worrying. Has anyone had rust addressed and under-sealing done of late? I am after a recommendation in the South / Surrey / Hampshire / Berks area. The only posts I can find are a few years old

I've had the car since it was a year old (LS2 VXR 2006) and would dearly like to keep it for as long as I can. Just worried about the situation underneath and really need to do something.

Thanks

Sorry for bringing up an old thread, but at the time of posting, I think your thoughts of corrosion prevention were perhaps 11 years too late!

Perhaps but never too late. I wasn't sure how long I'd hold onto the car.
And the first thing on one's mind is the exhaust rather than corrosion prevention!
I'm going to keep it for as long as a I can.

a wire brush on a drill and some dinitrol will work very well , much better than waxoyl

Strewth - No wire brushing should be required. Buzzing anything off with a wire brush on a drill simply means less car. I remain of the opinion that corrosion prevention is a preventative measure, not a remedial one.

Of course you are correct, but we haven't all had the privilege of buying a Monaro from new. And since they haven't been in production for years we aren't ever going to be able again. So the best we can do is try to maintain/preserve/restore the existing ones which most are far from show room condition now. Doesn't mean they can't be good solid cars though.

What’s the cost of under carriage rust protection?

For a proper job, in the South east, around £450 to strip and steam clean everything, treat any existing rust then dintrol the underside and cavity wax sills etc.

Any cheap job wiill be just that, worth finding somewhere that does it properly.

I have used CSK automotive in Hoddesdon to excellent effect on my last 3 jap imports, and have recommended them on PH a few times.

Cool thanks. Appreciate that. Back home we only worry about doing much older cars

Cheers, got no tools or stands / ramps to do a proper job. Would do it myself if I had access to a hoist.
