Nothing wrong with a BMW. Nice capable cars.
2 things though, 1 - reliability is certainly not what it should be. 2 - They are just so common now, there's nothing exclusive about them.

As above they have had a few reliability issues , from memory one was a risk of a timing chain failing and to add to it it was a very difficult part to get too , i have driven a few 330d a competent car quick for what it is , but lacks the monaro character if that makes sense

BMW - better everyday car.
Monaro - better weekend hobby car.

Mine will be up for sale in a few weeks

They're lovely cars, definitely more suited as a weekend driver. Mines been a daily driver for the past year and it's a hoot but i'm forever thinking about the cost of fuel and the cost of parts if something should go wrong, due to a pending house purchase it will have to go. I have said that i can always buy another once we're sorted.

You definitely need to drive one, They don't feel sporty like a smaller car does, they're big heavy cars, they'll be shown heels by smaller fast VW's and Audi's, those cars are just so responsive and lightning fast gear changes help a lot. But you'll win on noise and general rarity every time.

Amen to that brother smokin I also have both. The Beemer is perfect, capable, comfy, economical, stylish and well equipped......but only for the day job.

Think of it like a woman.....the BMW is a smart and efficient business woman dressed in a very smart but slightly tight business suit..intelligent and attractive (with a hint of naughty) She will be good but slightly mechanical and leave you feeling slightly cold

The Monaro however is the busty blonde in the tight leather min skirt with those lips and completely filthy and you absolutely KNOW will give you a hell of a ride!

I have a 320d M-Sport and I really like it for everyday. Its a truly excellent car, it really is. I can't fault it on almost anything....apart from the grin factor. By contrast, the Monaro is a tad loose on the build quality, interior is ok at best (good comfy seats mind) but do I care....nahhhhh. Once I turn that key, fook me you'd need a chisel to get the smile off my bonce biggrin

Mine is supercharged and sounds like its seriously angry and powerful (which it is ha ha). NO BMW I've ever heard sounds quite like mine, with the perhaps slight exception of the old V10 M5 with a nice set of pipes. I've got the Monaro VXR and I just love the look of it. It looks angry without even moving.

I can't help but turn back to look at it every single time I park it. Much as I like my beemer, it get's parked and off I trot. Like most of you I use the Monaro at the weekend but to be frank, just starting it is an occasion for me. I bloody love it, warts and all.

The other thing you might want to bear in mind is that they are Biiiiig cars. The Mon VXR is exactly 16ft long which is only a tad shorter than the QE2 wink so if you get a garage make sure it fits first.

The Monaro is what it is....a muscle car. Old skool in essence and appeal but that in my opinion is its big appeal. The BMW is technological, calculating, efficient and does exactly what it's supposed to do...but a little boring and a little too clinical but perfect for everyday. The mix for me is bang on.

Good luck byebye

Nah. Just extend the garage to fit the car. Seriously, that's what I did! Extended it by just 6 inches to allow the garage door to close. Figured I'll never own a car longer than the Monaro again!
Such is my dedication (or stupidity!) to looking after this car best I can.

Or a Z8! But in all seriousness, every other car seems to be a BMW or VW - mainly because they are good at what they do.
