What's Your Fave Engine Sound (Top 5) apart from.......

I started my Ro the other day, sitting grinning at the noise and it got to thinking about other engines I love the sound of. Ironically most of the non V8 cars I have always lusted after and admired are mainly 4, 5 & 6-cylinder. So not in any particular order here are mine:

1. Opel Ascona / Manta 400
2. Ford Escort MKII Rally
3. Audi Quattro S1
4. Nissan Skyline R32 GTR
5. Metro 6R4

There are plenty more but those are my top faves. Of course the Ro is No1.....so what is your top5?

I shall try to ignore V8s to keep to the theme of the thread engine sound is easily one of the most important things to me

In cylinder count order, and trying to avoid the lure of beautiful vintage racecar engines, I'd say:

McRae era Impreza
Audi Quattro S1 (mental rally 5 pot)
Golf VR6
Carrera GT
Diablo V12

Got my car back last week after fitting. Ap racing brakes.adjustable Suspension 19”wheels, new interior and a full exhaust with headers pretty sure it’s a wortec switchable. Don’t have the switch wired up yet. 🤔 don’t think I’ll bother though coz I’m in love with noise of this car. I’ve had it for about nine years and it’s like getting into a new car. Awesome
It’s an 07 cv8 btw. And still sounds like a fekin nascar whoowho. And I know it’s not an 2007 coz they were all made in 06 but it did have an 07 plate when I bought it. 👍🏻

All UK Monaros were either 04 or 05 cars. Doesn't the badge on the slam panel tell you the exact date? I thought they all did? Unless its just a VXR thing. Regardless it will be 04 if big boot, 05 if small boot.

Ha ha that is my ACTUAL fave vid. Sounds bloody unreal that Ro. I think having looked it up that it's actually an LS1 supercharged. What a noise. Mine sounds nice but that sounds utterly epic to be fair, so thumbs up on that one fella!!
