Rare car still seems a fair whack £ wise , but if some one is happy to pay that much , then lucky them

Not for me at that price. Half it; maybe.

As much as I like a Monaro, to pay 45k for one is madness, the fact that it's a VXR 500, in reality doesn't add anywher near that kind of mark up.
However, if they start to command that kind of price then there will be a knock on effect to the values of Monaros in general, which if that were to happen is a good thing.

That is my old car that I had for 18 months bought from the 1st owner
Guy has done no miles in it as it had 12,200 when I sold it as it's part of his own private collection
It is a cracking example but good luck to him on selling at that price - little bit optimistic

What colour is it?
Any idea how many of each colour were sold of the genuine VXR 500’s?

Most were black as per this one

Think there was also one silver and one red

It's just riding on the coat tails of other ridiculous halo car valuations, however as stated above if it drags up the value of all our lesser models, good luck to the guy.

surely this is not an unrealistic value as I believe there were only 12 made, I heard that one went to Aus and think one got scrapped so for something that is very rare its a good price.

It comes down to what people will pay , plus how long you are willing to wait before it sells

I would say what's wrong with that? The Monaro is special it's a Holden after all, prices will rise full stop, if anyone doubts that then sell now.

Why do certain owner's continue to de value our own cars?

Thanks Preciousmetal.

Personally I don’t think the price is unrealistic - but as ever price it high and the seller can only come down smile

What owners are devaluing our cars? I'm just commenting on that valuation, which I think is OTT.

Sorry not on here, but there are plenty on the FB forum.

The point I was trying to make is I really think our cars are under valued in all guises for what they are.

Maybe the problem really is the fact that Monaro prices have been low for so many years and we have just become used to most cars being sold for somewhere in the 8-14k area
I'm not sure how many good cars are left but I think it's time to try and sort out an agreed insurance value.

I'll blame my bite on tiredness and having to get out of bed to bleed my brakes! I agree that these cars are undervalued but I can't help but roll my eyes when I see cars overvalued - the 100k+ E30 M3 immediately springs to mind. Good (great) car yes, but 100k? Reheheheally?!

I would take anything German classic same as the oval badge, the modern versions leave me cold as well as the ability to empty your wallet in the blink of an eye.

Nobody surely will want a modern beamer or anything german as a classic in the future, they are so numb to drive , the car drives you.

The Monaro offers a challenge and an occasion everyone you turn the key, plus cheap servicing cost for decent power, that's why in my opinion they should be worth a lot more than current prices.

Don't know why the vxr500 is specifically special as vauxhall only fitted the S/C to sell them off
