My interest in Holdens/HSVs took off in 1988 when I visited Australia as a (very!) young man. Spotted Gemini’s/Commodores etc and realised the GM family link to Vauxhall/Opel. Had a 1976 Opel Kadett C at the time. Moved on to Omegas in the ‘90s/early 2000s(4 of them.......still got 2!!!) The GTS/GTSR HSVs were on my radar 20yrs ago,but far too expensive. Still have letters/sales info from “Talacrest”.Went to NZ in 2003 and saw my 1st Monaro in the flesh. Went in every dealership that I saw. “I just want one”. Omegas came and went, but in 2009 I got my hands on one of the last registered 6.0 VXRs. Will be with me until my last breath. My young daughters “get it” and know they will be it’s custodian in due course. Look forward to seeing all you like minded “luddites” tomorrow.

Nice story,

Got my licence in ‘98, first car was a 1980 TE Gemini, drove it everywhere for 5 years.

That’s a shame. Looking forward to meeting you tonight.

I’ve got 10 stickers for sale as tribute to the lad on the HSV Facebook page that recently passed. It’s for donations to Solent Minds

Hey guys,

Unfortunately, though work on my Monaro progresses, it's not ready for release back into the wild yet - so it won't be able to make it to the meet this weekend!

Hope to arrange an impromptu meet at some point soon so I can catch up with you all! Was very much looking forward to the drive this weekend!

Make some noise for me though! smile

Nice meeting you too Paul.

No I didn’t make the run, would have been awesome. Had a cracking day for the slip and slide with the kids!

Definitely up for a clan catch up and I want to see that Skyline wink

The route was fine. All types of push bikes up and down the Dukes Pass was not! And it had been bitumen and chips treatment!
More later....
