Hi Folks , had the car undersealed last week and it looks as if a new exhaust may be needed in the not too distant future.

Have looked at Walkinshaw and Magnaflow but wondered if anyone had ordered one to be custom made?

Would also be interested if anyone had a second hand one at the back of the garage.

Cheers

I have a Magnaflow cat back on my Monaro. I fitted it about 10yrs ago and it's been fine. It not too loud around town but has a nice deep tone when you put your foot down.
If you want a custom made cat back or even a full system made for your car try AAS in Newcastle. I had AAS make me a set of headers and sports cats and their work is second to none.
As far as the Walkinshaw exhausts go I can't see them being cheaper than AAS and I doubt their quality will justify the extra cost.

I bought my Magnaflow from a company called Nemesis UK Tel. 01212882561 they might have a system to fit your VXR8.
AAS in Newcastle will make a system for your car, but you will more than likely have to leave the car with them for a couple of days. Tel 0191 2673718 and ask for Stuart to find out.
Walkinshaw will be able to send you a system through the post to fit yourself. Tel 0845 4020402 and ask for Dave.
I hope that helps.

John.

Pity Monkfish have stopped working on these cars they could have supplied a Wortec exhaust.

Had the wortec system fitted onto my VXR8 when I owned it, what a sound, popped and banged like nothing I had heard before??

Miss the sound if I was honest.

I’ve got a 3” Difilippo on mine. Not as raspy as the Wortec and more NASCAR. Sounds great, especially with headers.

I've currently got a wortec bimodal cat back exhaust which sounds lovely. It has the twin exits rather than the oval ones. Even this on its own is very decent.

It'll be going to AAS in Newcastle for the rest of the work. Prices are roughly 1800 for headers, high flow cats and xpipe, and as previously mentioned their work is superb. Have seen this set up on my friends 09 VXR8 and it's night and day to the standard.

Walkinshaw, with the centre box removed.

Shakermike has his done like this and its honestly one of the best exhausts notes I've ever heard.

How loud is this as I'm tempted by a centre box delete on mine?

It is pretty loud. I can try and send you some videos if it helps, or I'm in Cornwall if you're ever in this party of the country I'd happily show you.

Does this one differ by not costing the price of a small house in Merthyr and not getting stuck?

So far they are remaining hush on the price, and whether the valves are different/available as separate purchases for when they seize biggrin

Its been gone a while but i had a Magnaflow cat-back on mine and loved it.

If you wantto go custom, also worth contacting Wullie at Meerkat in Kilbirnie. The McRae family use him a lot, and his prices are keen with first-class skills. Another Glasgow-based user on here was going to use him using my car to give him some ideas - that user ultimately went for cut-outs instead and was dissapointed.
