I’d contest that, depends how you define “better”. Mine certainly starts, idles and drives perfectly. Still makes decent power too.
So does a standard car.

Bottom line is, I think my car needs mapping properly, from scratch. I’m not even sure it was mapped since the cam was changed.
Whether Wortec do it or I give it to Carl and let him and Luis sort it, I think the cost will be similar but there will definitely be increases to be made across the board.
As has been said already, you can spend thousands on performance upgrades but without the right mapping, you won’t get the best from them.

Cool. I look forward to hearing about your experience and final dyno result.
I keep looking at all sorts of cams, heads and intakes. All mind boggling stuff! Might take a trip down this road in the near ish future!
I'm thinking mild cam (212/218 LSA 114) Decent increase in power across the range, no loss of low RPM torque, hopefully pass emissions.
Fast 92 intake and TB
LS2 heads or similar upgrade.
We'll see!

Me too. I hope I don’t spend north of a grand for nothing!!! I’m going to get it booked in although Carl is booked until end of July so it won’t be until August.
With regards to MOT. My car wouldn’t pass an MOT in a million years with regard to emissions!!

If it hasn’t been remapped since the cam was changed, that’s something entirely different! You say it’s been mapped on the road which is quite normal and exactly what Carl is talking about when he says he’ll drive it to work and back for you! That’s about getting it to drive nicely, like a normal car. The dyno part is to do the top end, tweak fuel and spark timing to get the power number you are looking for. Half a day on the dyno (£2-300?) if it hasn’t been done already. To be honest, I’d give the guy who mapped it a call, he’ll know all about it. You can then make an informed choice.

That’s exactly my point. What’s the point of a car with a great peak power figure that’s horrible to drive on the road and a pig to start? That’s where the time goes, not half a day on the dyno to finish it off.

Hi Mel, I’m fine thanks, how are you? Not much happening here these days and a few of us dip in and out. Lots of new people though and it’s nice to see new owners still enthusiastic about the cars. What are you driving now?

Hey wormus!
You’ll be pleased to know that my car is booked in with Wortec on the 30th of June.
It’s going to have a health check, map refresh and a dyno run.
Paul reckons I should be driving home with around 100 more ponies!!
He said that because the car is mafless, the map won’t refresh as things wear and change so it may, moving forward, be something I have to do every so often to keep things up to date. But at £350 it won’t break the bank.
Thanks for your advise on this matter. You’ve not only saved me a fair bit of money but instead of leaving my car in Southampton for a week, I have nice drive down to Goodwood, a chance to meet Paul and I’ll be on my way home the same day!

This sounds like a great outcome. He recently logged my car and compared to the ones he’d done before, not much had changed but he did tweak it for the chiller I had fitted. He’ll definitely be able to improve on 12mpg ! Good luck.

Do the guy a favour and don’t talk rubbish. Many many LS cars tuned by Wortec and many happy owners, me included. Mine drives superbly and makes 650hp at the wheels. I guess you think Monkfish were crap also?
The car’s already been mapped by Wortec and it runs superbly. It just missed out on the final power runs being done and has also had a cam change since the map.
I’ll see what happens on the 30th but after speaking to Paul there’s no doubt in my mind that to spend £410 with him to health check and remap my car on the dyno is the way to go.

Hi Wormus, Col and I got married on a beach in St Lucia two years ago and we're really good thankyou.
Still driving the VXR8 and loving it biggrin
Do you still have the Monaro?

And that’s your problem. Cam changes everything and I’m not surprised it’s not running terribly well if it’s not been tuned since.

Unfortunately not many people post here anymore there’s so much more on fb check out the ls remote tuning page and you’ll find all the horror story’s there for yourself. I’m no tuning expert but have learnt enough along the way to know where to go to get the best tune. My story is along one but would I ever let Mf or wortec touch my car again no. The reason being is this is a perfectly safe tune to hand a customers car back.
Well you are in a minority of one and pretty much every Monaro or VXR8 was looked after by Monkfish at one point and many of us lament their passing. If you had a problem with your car, which looking at the graph you did, you should have worked it out with them at the time.
As above. Why didn’t you say something at the time?
I have AFR gauges in the car so can keep an eye on what’s going on all the time.

We have never ran a witch hunt, we have no need as our results speak for themselves. Luis and I have tuned dozens of cars that have previously tuned by "bespoke UK tuners. Every one of them displays the same traits, very lean , nonsensical timing maps.... Many running very lean some to the point of destruction. Replacement engines fitted, a component blamed for the failure inc ecus, ht leads etc etc and the same tune flashed back on and the car displays the same issues again. We offer a service to anybody where we will pull the current tune wether its HPT or Efilive and run through your current tune and point out potential shortcomings. This is FOC! We have also always said if your not happy then we can flash your original tune back on and don't pay us anything. If you have any questions then contact me at lsperformanceparts@hotmail.com

We are also running a Q&A session with luis on sat morning on the LS remote tuning page on facebook so if you have any questions ask away!
