I've done some reading on the subject of swapping the 2 piece monaro prop for a 1 piece type. It appears the C/F or aluminium one from the the driveshaft shop in US get the best reviews.
I have a 04, 5.7vxr monaro so from what I've read would need the 04 GTO manual propshaft as the 05/06 (6.0) have a larger diff flange.
The reason for changing is that I swapped out the centre bearing when I first got the car and original prop was rusty, during prep for repaint I inadvertently knocked a balance weight off. I also noticed the U/J was a bit notchy too.
I think these have caused a slight vibration around 50/60 mph.
Well what's the consensus, get original rebalanced and repaired or go single?

If you're not going for more power original repaired makes more sense. I'm planning to have a shop look at mine that is local and see what options they can come up with. They can do custm builds etc guessing it would potentially be cheaper than importing one too.

I have a place local in hull that thinks they could balance/repair but if not they said a place in Leeds definitely could. My cars already had a few upgrades, running circa 477bhp.

I have a CF one piece from the DriveShaftShop, it's a quality piece but obviously a bit spendy...hehe

If it's just a balance weight etc, then I'd say get it repaired / balanced and let it live on. Once it's working nicely you can always sell it when someone needs one (it'll happen) and use that to pay for part of your shiny new one piece hehe

If you do go to the DriveShaftShop, make an account on LS1GTO.com forum first, as historically they gave a 5 or 10% discount for forum members thumbup

Just get it rebuilt and re-balanced.

One piece end up with too many problems and limitations and would be a last resort.

JM-Imports are a big outfit and expanding, I'm sure they'll offer good service.

Yep, he's a regular at TOTB and other big events, usually with either the GTR or Lambo....and both ridiculously fast.
And sometimes racing both ! lol

They certainly have some gear on their website, also just enquiring with LS performance regards a single DSS prop and trans mount cost.
Hinson single props are around 300 us/d cheaper than DSS, they can also supply a trans mount in same order - anybody running one?
