I have just renewed the insurance with Admiral for not a great deal of money, but noticed they mentioned market value in the renewal. What is market value on these cars?

Are there insurers doing Agreed value, and if so who do you use

I've always found Admiral to be pretty cheap... however one of the big downsides with the big companies is that you will likely have an uphill battle should you get it to an argument with them over the value of the vehicle. 99.9% of their customers will drive common white goods type cars

If you want a proper agreed value policy I would be looking at specialist insurers such as Adrian Flux (never had a reasonable quote from them), Sky insurance, Chris Knott are a few examples

theres pros and cons.
Market value is what it cost to replace like for like.
Any insurance company will be a pain if it ever comes to this , no one wants to pay out.
i used to have agreed value. but if prices go up. you wont get any more than you agreed for .
speak to specialists like Sky , A plan or Brentacre about replacement costs , theyll advise accordingly

Did you mean unreasonable? Or have they always quoted too high?

One trick we do have up our sleeve, is that there are so few Monaro to buy on the classifieds and the ones that are available are generally now asking decent money.
I would think this will help our cause in a write off situation.

I listed Flux as they are a popular specialist insurer but I personally have never had a reasonable quote from them. They always quote me stupidly high figures but I know a lot of of other people have had really good experiences.

A plan in thatcham have always been very good , they often insure via markerstudy , the thatcham branch deal with the less run of the mill cars
