Insurance can be expensive on modded v8 cars-i am an oldie-in a chep postcode -my charged monaro was going to be 450 ish on renewal[fair list of supporting mods tho]
over the same timeline my golf r was only a couple of hundred quid, stag about 70,daily audi estate a couple hundred too,for a car i only did just under 1k in a year it made no sense to keep it -sadly as it was a cracker

have you been a naughty boy? Seriously I'd be shocked if that came to more than £400 on a limited miles policy. A-Plan can be dicks if you've not got previous LHD experience but I'd heard they were started to be more reasonable again
A-Plan wouldn’t even offer a quote. I don’t meet their criteria.

Late 40’s, no claims or points in over 13 years, vehicle to be kept at my home in a locked compound with CCTV in a semi-rural part of Derbyshire.

And the Commadore / Lumina is RHD as well.

It’s a good job I checked the insurance prices before contacting the seller and making a trip down South this weekend.
Was that A-Plan Thatcham? Or just A-Plan? They have a specific branch (Thatcham) that deals with the modified stuff...

That doesn't sound right, as I'm over a decade younger, similar NCB etc., vehicle kept at home on drive, and a very heavily modified (I sent them an e-mail listing everything including a 600bhp home built engine) Monaro was £450 for 4,000 miles a year.

When I insured my modded monaro, one company wouldn’t quote because I hadn’t been driving a rwd car for the entirety of the previous year.

Some of them must have some funny criteria. I could have been driving a 118i for a year and that would have been ok… I was driving a LS400 then a modified golf gti for a few months before getting the Monaro and that wasn’t.

I’m paying 650 this year as I couldn’t get enough companies to quote to drive the price down. 49, one non-fault last year, one fire claim the year before, but using 10+ years of NCD from the policy I didn’t claim through!
