Monaro key fob battery replacement
I bought a replacement plastic fob from eBay , as old fob was ageing plus glued together , plus the correct battery with welded tabs on it , a soldering iron and solder and 10 mins later a new battery was in place , range of the fob is 4 or 5 times the distance , I was worried old battery was going to die and leave me stranded , there was no re programming needed to make it work , I think the battery was a cr2032

Diff Oil for Helical Gear LSDs:

Such as the Detroit Tru-Trac and the new Wavetrac. According to the manufacturers (and me), you must NOT use a diff oil which contains friction modifiers. If you do, the diff will not lock up properly when you need it to. (I can vouch for this) If you have an oil fitted to a tru-trac with FM included, I recommend you ditch it asap, as I've recently had a couple of nasty scares.

I had difficulty getting a suitable grade from the usual suspects and ended up finding this:

I also needed the cover for the sticker 9212957 as listed above as my one had a crack in it and a bit of plastic missing. It's important to note however that you can't by the cover on it's own, you get the whole panel.

(Eurocarparts ref 485774735 (link correct at time of typing this).

Similar money to the Bosch set (ECP are always running discounts - I payed £20). Box is labelled as "Fiat Grande Punto... do not panic.

EDIT - I did a trial-fit after posting the above. The Valeo wipers require a slight mod. There is a pointed "tang" on the clip area that needs to be removed with a craft knife (5mins max). The tang is evident on both wipers, but one side only. Once removed the fitment/spacing is as-per original-fit. Original wiper at the top of the image, valeo below. Pointy tang visible towards the left hand side.

ETA: the new Valeo VM432 no longer have this tang, so are now a direct fit.

Thought I post these in here, as the thread title they were originally in isn't very relevant!

Monaro airbag resistor / capacitor values etc. steering wheel, seat airbags, the lot.

Conditions for the SRS/airbag DTC codes are as below.

Values are the same for the LHS / RHS seat side air bags and also the driver's / passenger's airbags, except for the driver's airbag, the lower resistance limit is 1 Ohm for some reason.

DTC83 LHS AB Cap Too High
> 550nF

DTC84 LHS AB Cap Too Low
< 390nF

DTC85 LHS AB Res Too High
> 10ohms

DTC86 LHS AB Res Too Low
< 0.6Ohm

If any of these conditions are detected for more than 3-5 seconds, the DTC is set.

The airbag system still functions if any of these codes are set, unless naturally the fault causing the code is enough to actually stop it from working.

It won't stop the rest of the airbags from working however.

For the driver's wheel, the yellow connector already has a capacitor in it, so you just need to put the resistor across.

Here's the website by the bloke who did the software, all very simple to do, promise! This includes cluster mods like HSV logos etc. and also resetting the airbag light (as in my previous post). He has instructions on there for how to do it all.

I only included that link as well because the airbag tool is just something he's done as a separate tool that only includes the airbag related stuff. Since you're making the cable, I thought you might want to try the cluster stuff too.

Depending on which car you use the cluster stuff on, it may well not like it as it could have some different options in there that the software may not recognise (originally the software didn't like our 'Vauxhall' logo option, but that's been fixed now.

The airbag system has been the same since the VT days though, they've just added the odd extra bag over the years, so all seems to be pretty compatible.

Some details on the cable needed to talk to the car at this level:

USB To Serial Adapter (as listings expire etc, you may have to search ebay if the link below is dead.)

It was listed as "FT232 Brush USB To TTL Serial Cable Line Electric Adapter FTDI Chipset Computer" and sold by 3997nicola

(The TTL bit is important, as that means it's 3.3V, which is what you need, and the FTDI chipset is a reliable USB to Serial converter chipset.)

I have a vxr500 that has been upgraded by its previous owners.
It has develop an intermittent throttle body sensor fault and needs replacing,
Can you offer an advice please?

How to clear the service reminder on Gen-F cars. Note that the service reminder is displayed on the dash as a message that reads "Change engine oil soon":

1) Press and hold the start button for around 5 seconds WITHOUT pressing the clutch pedal, until the dash lights up and the needles rotate around the dials. The engine will NOT start.

2) Promptly pump the accelerator pedal all the way to the floor three times in quick succession.

3) Press and release the start button once more to turn off the ignition.

I didn't want to paste the contents here because of the length. I'd also appreciate if someone could verify the accuracy or tell me if it's already available - runs to about 40 pages in total, 38 of which are codes.

Ok yeah I should have written that out, these prices are different per side, I've no idea why it's just the way Vauxhall do things.
