Saw a black one the other week in Danbury. Interior looked much better than I expected in black leather, after reading a few reviews that criticised it.

Roadrunner,I think that was probably me, I have a black GTS-R, live in Billericay but have been looking at some houses in Danbury/Little Baddow over the last few weekends and had a few lunches in the Griffin pub. Also popped into the pub where the Mid-Essex TVRcc used to meet on the 1st Sunday of every month.

Phil, sort of. HSV is a completely seperate company (Holden Special Vehicles) owned by Tom Walkinshaw Racing. The ones coming over here have 5.7 V8's of 350/410/500BHP.

sjc - Hi. That was your gleaming black beauty then, in the Griffin car park. Lovely. Looks really mean from the front. Did you have the supercharger upgrade? Those red calipers didn't look standard either.

Didn't think there was any PH'ers out in my neck of the woods. I'm usually in Maldon at the weekends. Was looking at places in Danbury with my girlfriend too. Any other PH'ers around our area?

Another HSV owner in Essex.

Bearing in mind there's only a few of us HSV owners at the mo we're going to try and meet up and 'anorak' in a few weeks time. Will probably be in Essex as one of the local pubs has a bit of a 'petrol head' evening every wednesday. Some of the cars that turn up are sensational!

HSV owners who are interested - watch this space.

Roadrunner,

Red calipers are standard on an HSV.

I'm pretty sure that sjc hasn't had the supercharge done (although he's got a damn fine new exhaust system ). Neither have we. Only one chap I know of who can do the supercharging - Mark at Linden Special Vehicles and it costs about £10,000

Just been e-mailed about a regular meet up, mostly for tvr's:

"Hurdlemakers Arms near Danbury, first Sunday of the month. Apparently the turnout tends to be pretty high, 20-30 odd cars!"

I'll pop along and see what it's like.

Roadrunner, thanks for the comments about the car, yes those brakes are standard(343mm) and I found out how good they were yesturday on the A12 when a bucket flew off the lorry in front and I went straight over it ,fortunately at a greatly reduced speed. After pulling over and inspecting the car I thought it might be an idea to catch the guy up and gently explain that he could have bloody killed the 4 of us just because he couldn't be bothered to check his lorry before he went down the pub drunk six pints and drove home 'cos it's only round the corner. He must have pulled off somewhere but I've just read on another thread about cameras on the Suffolk section of the A12 that I didn't know about....fingers crossed and rant over. On a different note when I bought the car the supercharging option wasn't around and I thought 410BHP was enough although one guy is having it done at the moment and they are expecting nigh on 600BHP!..HSVGTS, Hello to you and your husband, all this from being followed in a dirty white Mondeo!

600 ponies! Sounds almost enough. Thought the supercharger 'only' pushed out 510ish!?

Roadrunner, the 500BHP figure is based on the standard 340BHP car. The supercharger apparently can show gains of 66%, so 600BHP on a 410BHP car should be easily achievable. Off topic what cars are you people in the Essex area driving in case I spot you? (well it is a small world)

I live here in oz and was suprised to see the hsv's in the uk have such options as the supercharged V8 as this is not an option here as far as i'm aware. The V6 is supercharged and the 5.7l v8 is about as good as they get.
Any idea of what they're selling for new in the uk.
i would be interested to see if anyone has desires on a used example as i am an importer over here and wouldn't mind exporting these cars for a nominal fee.
I guess the uk buyers could save a fair bit. I'd be interested to here from anyone looking for one.

What sort of view do insurance companies take on this vehicle. More expensive than a TVR?

The bucket incident sounds like a hairy moment!

I had a similar thing on the M6 once. Fairly heavy traffic (when isn't it?) I was at 70 in middle lane (all 3 lanes travelling at similar speed, and no I wasn't hogging, inside lane the usual M6 wall of artic). Spotted "something" bouncing down the motorway between lanes 1 & 2. As it came closer it was clear it was a rolled up bundle of concrete re-enforcement rod, about a foot in diameter. Bounced clear over the car in front, and I was convinced it was coming through the windscreen. I didn't have much time to react, and couldn't do much anyway. Swerved as far to the right as I could, and it hit the base of my passenger front door with a bang.

When I stopped on the hard shoulder the car (Senator 24v) had a huge gouge under the passenger side sill, as well as the dent in the door. I count myself lucky it didn't come through the windscreen (I'd have been dead), and also that the thing didn't take out a tyre - it had end sticking out everywhere like some crazed overgrown Ninja star.

Traffic was so heavy I couldn't see where it came from, but without doubt it would have been off the back of a builders open truck, where it had been tossed carelessly.

Mind you, the truck was probably not speeding, and neither was I, so if it had hit me square in the face I'd have still lived to tell the tale, eh? Wouldn't I?

Cammy, some quotes were plain stupid (like some TVR ones), but got it through Tesco at approx £770. (37, full no claims, tracker etc).
