Unless you count a £41k Cat-D, and a Chevvy engined car, there are no 'normal' / 'original' Sags for sale......

Yeah, its interesting that there are now no good examples for sale and how much the next one will go for (even if its advertised at price X, the final sale price with enough interest could climb)

I've a "never seen rain, looked after better than the wife" Sagaris with 23k miles on it - if someone offered me £70k+ for it I'd have to say I'd be very tempted to sell it.

Is part of the problem that people talk down perfectly good repaired cars, indeed to the point of iventing problems on them, and are talking their own cars up to the point of being unsaleable pricewise? If you're not careful you might find your values crashing around your ears like the cerbera guys found ..

I somehow very much doubt that. 2012 registered Cerbera's 531. 2012 Registered Sagaris' 137. Cerbera's built - 1,000 plus. Sagaris' built - 200 plus. Cerbera's for sale on PH at the moment - 28. Legitimate original Sagaris' for sale on PH at the moment - NIL.

Well yeh the comment was a little bit tongue in cheek, but some people need to remember that there's a few people around who know the sellers of cars, the potential buyers of cars, the repairers of cars and the garages doing the inspections, and some comments being said about some cars are quite a way off the mark.
Cat D Sag for 20k less that a non recorded car? With full vents properly done, one piece bonnet, big disc conversion etc etc .. sounds great value to me (was even better value before the price went up!) and certainly not needing 9k to put it right, or only fit for a track car as some people have commented ..
If a non recorded car is 60k plus, a properly repaired car for 20k less has got to be worth looking at. And don't forget that non recorded only means it's not on the register, not that it's never been damaged or repaired ..

Joolz i know Cerbs (AJP's) are close to your heart and yes they are a lot of car for the money but as there are so many negative stories on PH at any one time about them, there values will remain relatively low for the foreseeable future.

Could it be demographics, Sag owners have done a great job in talking up the value of their cars - is this because these owners are generally a bit wealthier than Cerb owners and just get on and get problems sorted without broadcasting it on PH or are they genuinely a better built car requiring less work....both i suspect

I think the values of the sagaris is like any other car, supply and demand. There are buyers out there for these cars and not many people selling. It's not only the sagaris that have increased in value, look at mk3 Tuscan prices especially convertible models as there were only about 90 made if my memory is right.

Not this st again. Are we Sag owners talking the value up? No - we aren't the ones selling the things at that value, and there are very few 'new' Sag owners on here.

Every time this comes up, and it just sounds like sour grapes. Are we upset that the values are going up? Of course not. Are we trying to drive them up? How do we do that? Seriously....

And before this descends into a 'why isn't the T350/Tamora/Tuscan worth more' kind of topic, we don't know. I'm guessing it's because the Sagaris is the poster-child of TVR, having taken over from the Cerb.

Finally... hippy Can't we all just enjoy having amazing cars?

This. You do have to standardise for age though. In purely clinical terms, in general an average 2002 Tuscan is 14K, a 2004 T350 is 24K so a 2006 Sagaris might be expected to be 34k. Add a bit for the higher purchase price -> 39K. There then does appear to have been an effect from the very limited numbers and the fact that nothing followed it, leading to roughly a further 15K premium, at present. Well done everyone that bought one. I'm as capable as anyone of getting emotional about TVRs but if we'd wanted to make money, we'd have bought shares in fruit-themed IT companies, not low volume sports cars...smile

Please calm down, it's not sour grapes at all, i just thought it was a fairly obvious situation, like someone joking they would take £70k for their Sag, whereas with the Cerb it's engine fires/multiple problems since purchase/power steering failure.

My comment was meant to illustrate why Cerbs are cheap compared to the price of Sags, i didn't refer to any other model just the two Joolz referred to.

Oh and of course supply and demand.

If we think Sag prices are on the climb:

Fair enough, but you can see how such comments can cause upset? If the tongue is in cheek with some comments, surely it can be in another with other such comments?

(Besides, some Sags are insured at £70k+...)

I know a Sag that is insured for £90k, quite right too.

People say Tams are ugly from the front, ugly from behind, it's a girls car, it's underpowered blah blah blah, that just makes me smile because i know it's a great car for the price of a secondhand Mondeo.

Anyway back to saving for a Sag smile
