Deejay - is this a 'warranty' fix or is it costing you?

Which bit? The velcro and rubber wedge were free, though I suspect I'll have to pay for the additional parts for the new frame.

To be honest, it's perfectly acceptable how it is and it's just me being a fussy b*gger, so it's not fair to expect TVR to foot the bill.

They did, however, offer some retrofit upgrades for free in the past, so I could always ask for a reduced rate I suppose!

I would also be very interested in this "retro-fit frame... I had the velcro and rubber wedges fitted as a cure which improved it a lot (it was EXTREMELY bad before!!), but its still not perfect.... please keep us informed on how you get on / price / effectiveness etc..?!

of course - why should we, the £40k+ paying customer, expect our cars not to rattle

Mine doesn't rattle at all anymore (though it took a day of my time and a lot of sound deadening material).

I got a load of stick for doing that given the price of the car!

If it really was a problem and there was no workaround then I'd agree, TVR should sort it under warranty. However, I believe they did deal with problems on the early cars in that manner and I wouldn't feel right saying 'please spend x hours on my car and supply a load of parts for nothing because I can hear a little bit of wind noise over 90mph'.

If they will, I won't complain though
I'll speak with the dealer and figure out what the deal is, then report back.

All we need now is a Sagaris owner with a digital camera to see how it's been fixed....

Useful bit of work, MJC, IMO especially the list of individual options/tweaks that others may be interested in.

Suggest that it may give a more accurate picture to buyers wanting to check things out, for the 'known problems' to also have a note to say that most cars only suffered a few of these (mine had 2) and many should have already been fixed under warranty?

How about a section on Warranties..

I think something like :

2005 on : 3 years comprehensive warranty

2002 ~ 2004 : 1 year comprehensive and 2 year on just engine.
Additional TVR warranty for 2nd year is £1000 +vat

List some addition suppliers might be good..

I might be wrong on some of the details - just what I've picked up and heard..

That's correct, though the 2nd year doesn't include paint cover. You also need to renew the warranty before it expires.

just like to ask the question, is this a reliable quality car for the money?I own an s2, and my dad is considering changing from his 2004 honda s2000, for the 350T, as he`s worth a lot more than me!!
but from his point of view, the honda is reliable, and the list on this forum with regards to possible problems, from his piont of view would be very off putting, he doesn`t want the agro of fiddling with odds and sods, he just wants to enjoy a gorgeous looking motor, and drive the thing. me? I`d have one in the blink off an eye!!!
I`d just like an honest drivers insight into owning one, rather than a salesmans biased view.

Test drive them both - back to back if possible. If he buys with his heart then the Tiv will be sitting on the drive - no contest! The 'little' niggles pale into insignificance against the smile on your face when you fire that engine up

Advise him to get the Honda, absolutely no doubt about it. If those are his requirements, it's a no brainer. TVR's need a certain sort of (understanding) owner and if little niggles (such as rattles and sensor glitches) would put him off, then it's not for him.

Does this mean that the 18 inch seven-spoke spiders are no longer standard for new build cars?

Petrol over fill problems

Probably a once in a century event as it requre hot weather but a watch out all the same as although the frequency is low the potential for a big bill is high.

If you fill your petrol tank to the limit in very hot weather the tank has expanded and therefore takes more-then,when it cools over night and the tank shrinks it dumps the over fill onto the ground under your car.

Good job no one dropped a ciggie.

The moral being don't be a muppet like me and try to squeeze in the last drop.

For anyone doing track days, info on uprated pads for circuit & road use may be useful;

Original equip pads for standard T350 & Tamora brakes are Ferodo F3432F material, according to AP Racing. They advise that next pad material up is Ferodo DS2500, & allegedly somewhat higher quality than alternatives from EBC etc. Brakes more strongly than 3432F with less pedal pressure and works well even when discs red hot, apparently. Trade-off is slight increase in dust & noise when used to the full.

Front caliper is AP Racing with 54mm radius scallop, rear is std. Sierra Cosworth (rear). Circuit Supplies supplies Ferodo pads both to AP for their calipers and direct to motorsport users; contact Tim Phillips, 01525 385888; front pad ref. for DS2500 is FRP3093 HS, rear pad FCP408H £101 front set / £65 rears +VAT.

July; Now tested over 1300 fast road miles + Spa and 'ring trackdays - better from cold, less noise, no fade. You don't need Red Rose brakes.

Does anyone know why the knock sensors were never fitted to the engine - I see the relavent wires and plugs are there but not connected - this would surely help with pinking issues and hot start up knock?

What an excellent thread.

Has anyone any experience of the Fuel Sensor error. I had that appear yesterday. I am fairly certain I have read about that issue frequently on here.

I have been and refulled to check that the readings were correct (which they were) so I am guessing it was a blip.
