Thank's Nick, not many comments wasn't sure if people are interested in "another body off thread". It's all stripped down now last bit to take of was the steering rack,
Had to do some jiggling about to get that out,had to turn it upside down move out of the chassi to the right and then bring it out through the top.
Just got to get all the crap off and then it will be off to the blasters.
So i guess that's me done for a while.

Car is 2003 with 48.000 miles,no serious rust worst bit is around the tray which the pedal box bolts on to .There is a lot of places were the powder coat has cracked and the rust has got under the coating , so in a couple of years it would have got a lot worse. Not one to watch much tv , gives me something to do over the winter. At least once it is done it should be good for a few years.

Yep - bookmarked for me as well.

Love these threads - especially the photos where you show the engine in 1 minute then on the bench the next.

Is it just you or do you have assistants?

It's always good to see a TVR owner's enthusiasm and dedication.

But there's less than 250 Tamoras out there, and quite a small percentage of those owned that would be renovated at home by owners who use PH. It will be of great benefit in years to come when a google search for "Tamora chassis" brings up your hard work. Even with the missing 's' smile Keep it up!

Keep up the good work and informative pictures. As a recent Tam owner I was interested to see how much corrosion you discovered when the body came off. Reassuring that it is minimal, but acknowledge your comments regarding the powder coating cracking/lifting and allowing corrosion in.

I need to carry out some dress up work on my suspension components/hubs etc, but that may be a job for warmer months.

Just thought i would add a bit more detail getting the body off the chassis for my Tamora if anyone is as daft as me in the future.
I started inside the car but you could do it any way you choose
1 Remove instrument cluster (2 bolts)
2 Remove lower part of dash (3 bolts) you don't need to remove it completely,it will pull forward enough to get to the two "body" bolts see earlier photo.
3 Remove center console/ gear lever gaiter / gear lever, also disconnect the wire plug to the reversing light switch
4 Remove seats, undo the eight long "body" bolts these are behind the seat belt reals and the front ones just in front of the doors, will have to pull the carpets back to find them .Then remove the rest of the bolts through the floor. There is one at the back of the pedal box i removed this for access.
I then removed the diffuser and exhaust box ,and petrol tank ( 4 bolts) also disconnect the speedo sender wire, just by the connector for the fuel tank.Four "body bolts behind fuel tank. There is a wire which goes through the grommet that the fuel pipe comes through this is a earth wire which is bolted to the chassis this will have to be undone from under neath. Next i removed the exhaust pipes . this made it easier to disconnect the hand brake cable.Disconnect the wire to the carbon canister.Brake and clutch pipes will have to be disconnected as well.Behind the battery there is another earth wire to be disconnected I removed the bonnet to make life easier ,there are numerous pipes and and wires to disconnect. removed radiator as well there are four "body" bolts at the front .Also under the nose is another earthing point on the chassis marked on the photo. Last thing i can think of is the steering has to be disconnected.the four bolts from the top and bottom wishbones stick through the body cross member so i undone these and pushed the bolts back so they didn't get in the way.
Probably something i have missed but i hope this will help anyone who is as daft as me!!

Good to see you're making progress. Did you manage to find a somewhere close for the chassis work?

Hi S6boy,i did get to speak to Blast power but they don't offer powder coating.Have spoken to the company at Beccles and they are happy to do the chassis for me . All going well will be taking it to them next Monday , should be done in about two weeks. Busy ordering all the new parts ready for reassembly .

I hadn't realised you were specifically after powder coating.
I had mine blasted, hot zinc sprayed (I wanted protection even if the top coats get damaged) and then 2 coats of 2 pack epoxy. It came back looking like new and should last smile
Good luck with yours and looking forward to seeing your progress.

Don't think that. It's a cracking thread, maybe people are just in awe of the job you're doing by yourself. I'll echo other posters keep the info and pics coming and I haven't even got a Tamora biggrin

Seconded. I've been watching and reading but just not commented. Amazing job and one I'd never dare tackle (I could easily take it apart, it'd be the putting back together I'd fail on). It will also be of interest to t350 owners as they are essentially the same car...

Thank you for the positive comments , enjoyed doing my Chimaera four years ago . Thought that there couldn't be that much difference between that and the Tamora apart from the engine which did worry me a bit.

Big box of parts arrived this morning.
So made a start on cleaning painting and fitting some parts

Undone the rest of the parts from the blasters seem to have an extra part?

Had a few hours on the car today poly bushes are being a pain to fit

It's going to take lot a longer to put it back together than it did to take it apart. The bush marked in the picture has two washers in the kit,but even after grinding of the powder coat there isn't room to get the washers in.Is it okay as it is ,or any ideas??
