De cat it and get the chip, then go out and try not to smile.

Ferrari’s are lady’s, these are bad women. If you know what I mean.

Waiting to be accused of being non PC or sexist, sorry but don’t know any other suitable metaphors.
To be honest (unpopular opinion coming), i don't think the car sounds better since i de-catted. Yes it pops and bangs more and yes there is a noticeable difference in the temperature inside the cabin, but the sound is more raspy. Not the low grumble that it was before.

Not to mention the amount of fuel i go through now because i drive a gear lower to hit that sweet spot about 3000rpm, where it crackles like a child with bubble wrap. And never mind the grin you get when it scares people you pass, or the alarms it sets off in a multi story...

not sure what my point was now

Hi Mark,
Were you there early Saturday morning for the test drives? How did they go?

I was the nut in my football tracksuit that got up at stupid o'clock to drop the car off and get back up home in time for my game.
Yes, it was me. Test drives went as expected - has to be a Sag

Mine is De'Catt'd with the Clive F rear box and it is a little bit silly. Great fun, but anything more that 50 or so miles and its gets to become a bit too much and you get out the car ears ringing. Above 5000 rpm and its howling like a werewolf on crack - just bloody marvellous. Below 3000 and though loud its not particularly tuneful

I might see you again this Saturday collecting it then? Either way, all the best with your search and finding the right Sag.

What’s this chip please?
The Powers de cat chip. Simple enough just need to get the ecu out of the drivers footwell, so you need to be double jointed or determined.

I had to swap out the ECU once to see if a throttle issue was being caused by it (it wasn't). Completely agree that being double jointed would have helped.

In the end i would recommend sitting upside down in the drivers seat (no seriously). Much laughter was had but the simplest way to have both hands free was to lie on my back in the footwell with my feet where my head would normally go.
Turning Graham Varley's bible upside down also helped

Totally agree with the points raised above, I was more swayed of having a car for light use for my collection as well as a 100% keeper. so my criteria was to find the most perfect base car out there smile. I spent months looking for cars viewing a selection but was also disappointed in some cars that looked great on paper but when you got there the cars obviously had not been serviced correctly over the years, but the big shock was how many had such bad respray jobs....a butcher with a spray gun comes to mind, some people must be blind.

Due to all this disapointment I decided to instruct Ed @ Shmoo Automotive due to the great things I have heard about his approach to TVR's, to source me a 'Off the Radar car', not one thats in the classifieds.

Anyway to cut the story short...I went to see with ed a few other very tempting examples not on the official market which Ed still has tucked up his sleeve I think...but I decided to go for a 2006 Sag in Arancio Pearl....I love this colour....

Also due to my OCD I also wanted the car to be like new so I further instructed him to replace as much as possible on the car with totally new suspension, brakes, all wishbone/anti roll bars all re powder coated as per manufactures spec, every single bush replaced, upgraded clutch the list goes on...ed was fantastic he spoke to me everyday with updates on parts arrival to when the parts had been installed....

And here she is......

https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/...

So there are good ones out there, you just may need some help finding the right one for you.......

When I bought my Sag back in 2010, Air Con was one of the "must have" options that affected value as its very expensive to retrofit.
I don't know if that still holds true? scratchchin

Good luck with the search - cracking cars thumbup
