There was a thread on here many moons ago where someone had made a batch of new hinges for the glovebox lid. My T350 lid is a terrible fit. Does anyone know if new hinges are still available to cure this problem?

It is worth doing a one off direct metal laser sintering run to make one?

Something like this: https://www.protolabs.co.uk/services/3d-printing/d...

Hi Pete, I think the chaps web name is THREEFISHORANGE. He made them in batches, so perhaps he might have the odd one left.

I don't think changing the hinges is going to improve the fit. You need a new lid.

Thanks for your replies. I’ll try to get in touch with the hinge guy but interesting about the new lid idea.
Not a lot further forward I fear...

Anyone know where I can get a new glove box lid?

Presumably none being made so maybe a 'recycling technician' (otherwise known as a scrapyard geezer).

Our lid became “twisted” over many years and wouldn’t sit right. Now fits perfect after some work by HHC - done at the same time it was in for a service.

Thanks.

They probably just replaced it with a new one.

They come as bare fibreglass units which then need the original covering gluing back.

I'll ring HHC to see if they can supply bare units.

They do tend to become slightly distorted and warped over time, i have stuck a one inch thin strip of velcro top and bottom on the right hand corner to encourage it to stay in position and prevent it from springing up at random smile

The trick I was told a few years ago was to remove the lid and reverse the spring in the hinges.

It stays closed and firmly in place and helps reduce the risk of warping. Doesn't stay open on its own accord but a big improvement for me and took 10 mins.
