TVR T350C Drivers window

I have recently had to install a new 2mm steel cable in the divers door window regulator. After a few tries I managed to get it to work properly. When I tried to install the mechanism I had great trouble in getting the window to seal properly and ended up having to add packing to push the mechanism into the correct position to prevent water ingress along the door seal. Has anyone else installed a window mechanism and if so how did you get it into the correct position?
