98 Sags in the UK registered and SORN'ed

So why does "How Many Left " show 169 ????

https://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/vehicle/tvr_sagaris

Are they trying to hike the prices ??? smile

Common sense would tell you 100 cars just don't disappear smile

Howmanyleft.com is very inaccurate

https://www.carlogbook.co.uk/tvr/sagaris/ is usually better

And STR8SIX I would suspect know better than anyone - I doubt they are lying

Salesman school is where they get their "statistics" from.

The Moroccan/Turkish shop - "just come in and look, no obligation to buy".
The estate agent - "the garden is a sun trap"
The car dealer "you won't find another one. We've had 20 offers on this one over the asking price, and it's only been on sale for an hour."

Have you any evidence that Howmanyleft is VERY inaccurate ... I find it reasonably good
I reckon 211 Sags were built , so 113 are have some crap drivers and have written then off, they fall apart or they've been exported.
carlogbook only appears to state those on the road and doesn't include SORN , and it still says 123.
I'm not saying they are lying , just inaccurate.

They're measuring different things. CarLogBook is cars with a valid MOT. If it doesn't need an MOT, the car won't show.

HowManyLeft is cars taxed (and sorned), during the previous quarter (and actually, several months after that).

If a car is SORN'd or written off, CarLogBook data won't change until it's MOT expires, and most of the seasonally SORN'd cars will still have a valid MOT.

I suspect STR8IX have accidentally used the non-SORNed figure from Q2 last year, which was actually 98...

Hardly surprising. "Oh look - another Sagaris. Now, where's the ad I wrote last week...?"

But would common sense not make you think ??? Where did all those other cars go???? After all he says there were over 200 in 2006 ....
Otherwise it's a bad recommendation for TVR servicing biglaugh

The only bit that's wrong is the inclusion of "or SORNed".

From Howmanyleft, I'd say of the ~200 UK registered...

  • ~80 are in taxed/used all year round.
  • ~20 are taxed for the summer only, and SORN'd in winter.
  • ~30 have been scrapped/exported.
  • ~70 are SORN'd all year round. That's a lot laid up in garages!

Not quite the only thing ... quote
"Those who follow these things will know that the number of TVR Sagaris - Road-registered or SORN’d in the UK - has reduced from 200 plus cars in 2006...........to 98 last year! These stunning TVR Supercars are getting ever rarer – and therefore more collectable!"

and

"TVR built just over 200 TVR Sagaris. The number registered or SORN’d in the UK is now under 100. Special examples of these works of automotive art are potential future heirlooms or very affordable supercars – actually they’re both!"

The figures are being used as selling points not just an off the cuff reference.... Especially for those that follow these things smile

Of course more cars were SORN'ed this year with COVID and only essential travel was justified... I SORN'ed one of my TVRs , which normally I wouldn't have.

They are not alone, Castle have just sold a T350T with the ad stating..."The T350T is an incredibly rare variant with its removal carbon fibre Targa panels and approximately 40 cars ever made!".

https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/11602477

Carlogbook don't even recognise the T350T as a model!

Lol! To put in it perspective Ford sell more F series pickups in 3 hours than there are TVR Sagaris in total whether the true number be 170 to 211 or probably somewhere in between

Small point of accuracy - strictly the plural should be Sagares. A Greek plural, like crisis / crises.

Can’t help thinking they are still a steal. Nothing like them on the road, likely never will be.
