Sorry my bad...everything in the shell appears to me OK, my thoughts are that the bolt in the drivers side is too short (the passenger side is a slotted head set, so not the button head, so I cannot trust that one to be right) I just need the bolt size/length. A@

You may find that the hinge is fixed with a nut and (not fixed) bolt (in the boot).

M8 'should' be the size of bolt but then again that size may not have been what was lying on the shop floor at the time of the build. Length? Well, it is only a grp bulkhead - 10mm thick. Plus M8 nut and washer - 12mm. Plus carpet - 5mm. Plus hinge bracket and washer - 5mm. Plus two threads out of the nut - 2mm. So 34mm for a bolt.

On further investigation the OE pivot is a LT77 gear lever bearing in the hoop and a brass bobbin bonded into the shell. The drivers side was a M10 x 25mm button head ..the passenger side was a cropped down slotted head set of 27mm ...I have decided to replace both bushes, add a washer to stop the nylon bush from being crushed then go to M10 x 30 and Loctite (double check it prior to fitting). Apologies I thought you were refering to the hood hinges - the big ali hinges not the side pivots.
