I am looking around for something fun for the summer and a Tamora or Tuscan are possibilities, what do you think about this one, I like the colour but a bit concerned about those miles on an original engine, also wax oiled chassis, good for protection but bad to check, any other thoughts ??

Whilst I commend you on choosing a TVR, I would be very careful about touching a £15k Tamora (or any T-car for that matter). Eyes wide open at the very least.https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/275717397210?mkcid=16&a...
I don't see what the big issue is with this car, it's been for sale since last summer and deserves to be driven. Ok it has MX5 seats and looks like it's had a poor DIY retrim of the transmission tunnel trim and dashtop, cheap shiny vinyl by the looks of it. But I think it's perfect for a hands on owner to sort out, the current owner has done his own maintenance, has done the valve clearances and cams etc, and it's easily £5k cheaper than any other Tamora out there. Worth a thorough looking over and test drive...
Thanks, I hadn’t realised that the seats were not original or that the interior had been messed with, but is it feasible that the engine could still be good ?
For info the next lowest price I can see is £19k from a dealer and it has had the engine rebuilt, but I don’t like the colour unfortunately otherwise that looks a more attractive proposal

If it is the £19k Tamora I think it is, I would go for the £15k one.
The £19k one has a holes in the roof and a wing wirror. The interior has issues. The wheels need a refurb. According to someone who went to see it. Bought fo £16kish by the dealer and it was over £20k to begin with.
If they were both £15k then I would go for the grey one as it is a mk2 front.

The blue tamora is my car at 16k ...
Nice to see ppl commenting on a car that's not been seen ...
At 16 k theres plenty of room to have a new interior if thats what you want ...
The mx5 seats are well comfy and very highly rated in the kit car world ....
As for the engine no issues here no blue smoke ...cam swapped, followers,chains checked,bearing checked ...
Clean MOT history...
It had the Dallas chip changed lately and bodywork correction
Wheels are mint ,hubs and brakes ....
Maybe the engine has been looked after ..maybe it was a recalled one at the start of production...
These cars are 20 year old so you have to be realistic.
As for other comments about bodywork it's mint and has just had more work done on the bodywork to keep it good .
As for wax oil I use my cars in the winter so max protection wanted ...
After re building a x19/ Scirocco storm MK1 and tasmins I've seen what salt can do ..
If it was a old ford with original engine ppl would be jumping up and down
Regular trips done to skeg,car shows etc but ltd use late last year as the cost of fuel and and to be honest I had more enjoyment from the mk 1 Scirocco and 4 c and not in love with the car anymore .
The car will make it home and does love a long drive not a car for Sainsbury's and running around the block as they get noisy when they have stood .
And the cats are on as my mot bloke will not MOT it with out .

Front bearing and chains tensions.
Easy stuff .
Cams can be done in the car .
Chains etc ...you have to lower the engine of its mounts a bit .
All other stuff is normal wear and how it's driven .
Early engines had poor quality followers ...20 years go .
If your frightened of a spanner then is a tvr for you ?
Lovely car had great times but not in love with it anymore
Best bloke for engine bits ..power performance.. very helpful and has time for the diyer ...lots of advice.

I have been looking at that blue Tam since it came up on eBay. My BiL's both talk about getting one and I suggested it as a serious option. I would love it, even as a dedicated track day car. Hard to drive after the OH removes a limb or two though 
Biggest issue with the engines were caused by them being thrashed from cold. Factory fitted cheap shims that disintigrated too. Also they aren't a Vtec, the rev counter may say 9 but the engine won't like it - hot or cold

RE: the Tamora referenced in the OP, I have no knowledge of it myself, but I do find it desperately sad that such a nice-looking car is struggling to sell, even at that price…
Gaztaz: have you tried asking dealers if they’d buy it from you? In my experience, they normally price in a respray and a repairs fund when making an offer, but unless there’s something majorly wrong with the car (I’m not saying there is), they’d still offer you around your sale price, Shirley?
