I have read alot of comments from my fellow Sag and T350 owners about these Nitrons and how great they are and a complete must have my Sag should have!!!

With the fear of sounding a right pcensoredk, why should these be on my hot list to get asap!!! Whats the big difference and is it a massive difference? I dont track he car and dont intend to, im not a super fast driver but i still read that these are a must!

Thanks all.

I won't be tracking the Tam, so don't need Nitrons but would still like to upgrade the car so i'm considering Racing Reds as a cheaper option. I get the impression that Nitrons are fitted when budget allows as they are generally considered the best, apart from Ohlins....i think?

that about sums it up really, I do intend go on track this year, but even if I wasn`t I would still fit the nitrons as to me they are so good compared to the bilstiens.

in the past I have used cheaper shocks on other tvr`s, gaz golds on my S2 and griffith, as the jump in price for the nitrons was too much at the time, then after buying a t350 with these shocks already fitted by a previous owner I was very impressed, but was not aware of how a standard shocked t350 would have handled.
then on buying the sag with its standard shocks on I was dissapointed with the handling compared to the t350, surely it was supposed to be better? I fitted nitrons and am amazed at the difference these shocks do make, okay they are a bit firmer in ride but the feel of the car is so right, for me its one of the best mods you can do to your car, you wouldn`t fit cheap tyres, so why bother with cheap shocks?

If the ride is a bit too firm then adjust the shocks to suit, you can always firm it back up if necesary. Just make a note of where you start from then alter it and if you dont like it put it back to where you started from. Check tyre pressures before you do anything.

Exactly what I did, TBH I personally am of the opinion that unless your a driving god then for orad use the average driver won't be able to tell the difference between R/Reds and Nitrons.

Are you unhappy with the standard items?, I found the standard dampers/springs fine and a big improvement over past dampers/springs that TVR fitted to other models.

If you are happy with the standard dampers why change.

I find the standard setup on the Sag excellent on both road and track,as long as your geo setup etc is well sorted.

If I needed to replace the shocks due to wear and tear I'd be tempted to go with the newly developed AST set up from RG.Ohlins performance for Nitron money!

Clive is right the standard Nitrons will feel firmer as they have stiffer springs as standard for starters, then through the optimum range 17 to 7 from hard even on 17 from hard they will feel firmer.

you could wind em right down but why spend all that money on quality dampers and not use the performance they give you, you would be better getting em re valued for lower spring rates.

Even non driving gods can tell the difference, and there is a big difference.

yes I agree. My Nitrons came with Nitron springs originally. No driving God, but I can feel the difference having changed them for Eibach now.

I was looking at compromising with Gaz Gold Pro; my current setup is poor/terrifying. Should I look to deepening my overdraft instead to Nitrons? Again, fast road, no track. Incidentally, the current shocks have a red body; I assume these are HBs are they?

You get what you pay for, I've got Nitrons on my TVRs and Ohlins on my Bikes, I would recommend both if you're not happy with what you have as standard,

You will find the change of springs and shocks benefits the T350 much more than a Sagaris...as the aftermarket items follow the suspension set-up that was adopted for the Sagaris (hard spring, soft shock) which is widely acknowledged as a much better set up than the preceeding models (soft springs and hard shocks)..the Sagaris set-up was created by the same guy that set up the suspension on the Noble..

I fitted Gaz Golds first before I changed to the Nitrons,

The Gaz is not a bad product just was not for me.

I'm planning an upgrade at some point, my key criteria would probably be a bit more compliance as 18" spiders and rubber band tyres don't cushion many shocks. Test drove an Evora and I felt I could corner a lot harder and faster in that than the TVR, it was firm but took away those B road wash board ripples and bumps.

I'd be looking for a set up that took me more in that direction, not sure what that would be though and grateful for suggestions

Bang on the money.

Standard dampers and springs are super for road and track. New Nitrons may be lots better than a set of old Billies, but thats not apples for apples.

Nitrons on a car doing lots of track work need regular service work to keep them on their game, not cheap to do.

Because they are expensive and it sounds good "It's got Nitrons fitted you know"

Go with Ohlins because you will sound less of a knob when you tell people. smile I think I will be going this route next year, I have the GAZ gold Pro fitted at the moment but will be doing a lot of track days next summer otherwise they are perfectly good shocks for the average sports car/track user.
