Fantastic day. Thank you to John and then Yeti for organising.
Some highlights:
- Playing "put the face to the PH name" game. I was pretty bad, but got a few very easily
- Driving up from Beaconsfield in formation with a 4.3 V8V, another 4.7 V8VR and two wonderful V12Vs
- Seeing the work that goes into making one of our special cars
- Cumberland sausage and mash at the Halford Bridge
- Meeting the infamous JohnG1 and getting the backstory on his self-enforced PH exile
- Meeting self-styled "PH Bad Boy" Francis (Paddy328). His 'life partner' wasn't there, alas
- Seeing poor Ben's face every time he heard Jessica bouncing off of her rev limiter (in the first four gears) as Mike took another brave soul for a demo run
- And...the best part...after getting stick all day from Michael Gould about our inferior V8 Vantages, the perfect 50:50 weight distribution of a DB9 etc, being next to him in the car park as he tried to pull away with the handbrake on. Senility is a terrible thing
Only drawbacks were:
- The amount of workers in the factory standing around not doing very much! It was at the end of a shift, but was hoping for a bit more energy!
- The amount of red leather interiors being made up. I can only assume / hope they're for the lucrative yet tasteless Chinese market
- Not being able to carry on up to N Wales with the others due to commitment back in London
Oh and the drive from Halford back to Banbury on the A422 was epic, even in the wet. I love my car
Good to meet you Adam. Can't believe we were all so sensible in convoy on the way up. Needed to be dry with less traffic. Cool numberplate btw. Some highlights:

it did amuse me when they told us that they have deleted the manual gearbox option from the DB9, as no one was buying it. Proof if ever we needed it that DB9 drivers need their left hand free to smoke their pipes!

Adam I was there also,,,,,,, did u not listen to the host's Aston's supply over 42 countries this means not everyone likes Black,,Silver and boring Grey we are all different,, and as regards the guy's in the factory working they explained the reason's,,, i slightly amazed at what do u want,, if they built flat out , then u would be moaning that Aston's build too many cars,,,
I saw u and i thought u could b a problem and u truly are,,,,just except it for what it is coz u buy a car does not mean u have shares in the company
And again in English? I saw u and i thought u could b a problem and u truly are,,,,just except it for what it is coz u buy a car does not mean u have shares in the company

It was a good drive up wasn't it! :-) Shame about the rain. It was 2% I believe that were spec'd as a manual... which would make them pretty rare if you happen to have one. A great day where I learnt alot about a brand we are all passionate about, although wish I could have learnt a little more about future plans..We wouldn't have told anyone else.. honest ... it did amuse me when they told us that they have deleted the manual gearbox option from the DB9, as no one was buying it. It was good to put a few faces to names.
A huge thanks to John (hope you still occasionally read the forum) and Lewis for taking the time and effort to organise - it is hugely appreciated.

And you too Neil. If it was dry and less traffic I don't think we would have seen the V12 boys for dust Hopefully see a lot of you again at Hever and then for Rob & Molly's (highly researched ) Borders run. And that includes you, MrAmNpg

Just a quick one is the next one going ahead?
Of course! I will start making the list up in due course and getting the real names of people. Many of you have already sent them so I will make up a master list again soon. If you haven't, please do so, it's less fun than you think chasing after 25 of you! I will speak to BR and see if they fancy another open day, my car will be in there for the start of its power transformation so I'll be at Gaydon in a Porsche if I go again

Given the popularity of these factory visits, and the length of the standby list for May, is it worth asking if a June visit is possible?I will speak to BR and see if they fancy another open day, my car will be in there for the start of its power transformation so I'll be at Gaydon in a Porsche if I go again

Quite a few last-minute drop outs for the last one, people either forget they have added themselves and have to work, don;t post on PH any more or just do it I assume to annoy me. I can always ask AML if they will do another one but someone else can take over organising it! Like I say, it's time consuming doing lists and chasing people who are reluctant to give their real names for whatever reason Gassing Station | Aston Martin | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
