Isn't the autobox frustrating to use in this era of the magical ZF 8-speed and DSG twin clutches?
Is it perfect? No. But it's extremely good. Dr Bez once said that anyone who thought they wanted a manual should first drive a TTII car. He thought 99% of them would choose the autobox.Last August I almost bought a DBS Carbon Black Edition. The idea was to lay it up in storage with specialists and watch it grow. With 3k miles on the clock and with 120k GBP asking price it now looks like that would have a been a good decision. Only problem was the b*stard dealer I was working with sold it out underneath me - so I was literally (no sheet) 30 minutes away from owning it.
I spent a lot of time putting the project together over a week (as did my banker) and was in almost constant contact with the dealer's salesman all week on a (more than) twice daily basis. I told the salesman on the Thursday my part-finance was approved in principle and I was waiting for one final confirmation Friday morning from the bank. My financing was confirmed Friday morning. I realise that it is first come first served, but I very much felt I was dealing with the dealer first. The dealer claimed to have treated me fairly. In fact, he did not treat me “equally”. He demanded a 5000 GBP deposit from me on the Monday, but then accepted Friday morning a 1000 GBP deposit from a buyer subject to financing being approved. Had the dealer called me Friday morning to say he had another full list price offer, I would have jumped in and paid the 1000 GBP deposit on the same terms to support an offer for the full list price. In fact, I had told the salesman Thursday I was prepared to wire 1000 GBP in lieu of 5000 GBP…No names to be revealed in public but I will never forget how a "reputable" dealer f**ked me over...small mind, small (or zero) financial gain, large reputational loss.
I ended up with a fantastic V12 Carbon Black Edition instead. I will own both in future.

Aston Birmingham seem to be trying single handedly ti force up prices, regardless of mileage
Looks to me as though the price fixing on dbs manuals over the last 12 months has currently hit its peak
Those on AT etc with manuals have stretched it a bit far IMHO
Viewed a couple and Def showing mileage wear

That sounds like outlandish behaviour that I wouldn't believe if it wasn't for the fact I went through a similar experience myself a couple of years ago.I spent a lot of time putting the project together over a week (as did my banker) and was in almost constant contact with the dealer's salesman all week on a (more than) twice daily basis. Have a mate who finally took the plunge this weekend
He had expressed interest in a manual DBS with his local Aston dealer so they called him the moment it arrived - when he went down to look at it, there were already some people who just happened to be there taking an interest
black, 40k miles, no rear seats, no B&O, 1 owner, needed a little cosmetic work doing which the dealer is sorting first - paying £122k - it's not even gone on their website
Interested in people's views - in the current market, it sounds a reasonable price. The 40k miles was a little offputting but looking at others for sale, it seems like it costs roughly £1 per mile for lower mileage ones for sale

I know of another 40k miler that has just sold for £125k. Not sure of exact spec but colour was Casino.

Price looks about right and the £1/mile "man maths" was exactly the one I applied when I bought mine. Everyone has their own opinion about mileage. Personally if I had the extra cash, I'd stretch to that 9k miler in Casino, but equally, I don't think higher mileage is a problem for these cars mechanically.
