V12V Bamford Rose upgrade - cat is out of the bag!!
Discussion
Sounds Good!
Yeti,
Just out of curiosity can you refresh me on all that has been done on your car, and what is still to come with it? I find it so fascinating to see how everyone is making the cars really their own, and now it seems with the BR mods, people are able to more than ever. Can't wait to see what BR does with the new Vanq 310
Thanks!

Well I don't like to talk about my car... Oh, OK then.
Stage 1: Handling. Shear panels from DBS/Virage to stiffen Volante chassis. Fitted rear anti-roll bar and updated drop links. Bamford Rose switchable magnetorheological dampers and springs. Brembo GranTurismo 6 pot braking system. DBS wheels and Pirelli tyres. Full geo to BR's spec.
Stage 2: Poke. Full BR 'no compromise' exhaust manifold system with racing-style collectors, 200cpi sports catalysts and a return to standard AM backbox to have a switchable system. High power DBS style short inlet manifolds, higher lift camshafts. Engine timing mapped to use 98RON fuel.
Still to come... Short term.
Higher lift cams again to see what we can get.
Graziano V8 racing gearbox which is being refurbished before fitting to my car - this will also come with a shorter differential to give more grunt through the gears. Mike says it'd be undriveable in a Vantage but should be fantastic in a DB9 Short shift gear linkage to speed up changes and the long-awaited extended throttle pedal to allow heel and toeing will also be done.
Longer term: the mighty 6.5 litre 650bhp engine! Block is bought, components are being sourced, no compromise, everything forged and from Motorsport applications.
I will probably go to the BR brake kit as well - as good as my Brembos are, the BR kit has a much larger braking surface so better heat efficiency and dissipation. More powerful than CCMs although the outright endurance isn't there, but good enough for my application!
How's that?

I thought you weren't changing the block? Wasn't that one of the reasons for (a mere) 6.5 litres instead of 7?
Originally was going to have the work done on my engine... But would have meant car off the road for months while the heads were ported and so on!! 7 litres would have required a new crank which is mega-money - trying to avoid that! Block has been bored to 6.5 now so that's that. I asked about 7.0 but it added a whole new level of money/worry!
I'll leave that to JohnG1 perhaps... Although his car may be for sale if anyone wants a Mako V12..? He's moving shores...

I'll give you £50 + delivery for your old block, then I can make a coffee table out of it Block has been bored to 6.5 now so that's that. I asked about 7.0 but it added a whole new level of money/worry!

Shame if JohnG1 is selling his car, would have loved to see the monster V12V

3 grand would be closer for a good block! Engine will be worth a lot more than that a well, which helps with getting some money back on the project
£3k is a bit much for a coffee table. I want one of those V12 ones but the only ones I can find are lowly Jag V12s! I want the full on Aston V12 Lunablack said:

A 600 actually! (that's still too small though, 1190 KTM RC8R is what I want sometime in the future, just need to pass my test first) Speaking of which, I have to drive to Bolton to do my test now, some bloody idiot managed to pull the throttle on instead of the brake at Blackburn test centre and has hurt themselves and damaged the test area, so they closed it and cancelled my test
I like the sound of the 'no compromise' manifolds for my V12 Vantage. Pun intended.
How much more is it over the £6500 version and what are the key differences?
If it really gains 50bhp that would probably be enough for me, however the ability to rev beyond 7k is the stuff of dreams, for the noise more than the extra power.
I was on the verge of buying a new motorcycle today, I think I may have found a better use for the funds...
Congratulations to Mike for the sterling work and also to Yeti and John for making it happen.

The 6500 set-up is the 'no compromise' solution - basically the price is determined by the amount of labour that has to happen to make those intricate race-style collectors. It is truly a work of art.How much more is it over the £6500 version and what are the key differences?
The other solution doesn't have these and power will be down, it's not know by how much - but can be gained elsewhere such as with the camshafts - BR's Bruce has invented a way of changing the cams without removing the engine so it's all done in situ - a whopping cost saving on labour as you can imagine!
I'm getting excited just talking about it - and I already have it parked outside!
