Well done AZ.

Seeing the photos of MOS51E and the car Mrs AZ knew nothing of - Bob, did you choose the wing mirrors such that they are not noticed? Great work. The attention to detail is outstanding.
AZ, Over recent years (since March 2014) when I first placed a deposit with Andrew for an Aston powered aluminium bodied car, I have witnessed and perhaps helped in a small way to influence some pretty dramatic design developments. As Andrew will say, they are constantly looking for design improvements and has proven to me that he is willing to adapt an existing design pattern to meet an individual customers wishes. The fully serviceable aircraft instruments fitted to MO55IE demonstrate that well enough.

And by the way, your Vanquish is just stunning, not much tempts me, that does, congratulations to you too.

V8LM, MO55IE's dash mirror is an original Lucas 585 dipping mirror as fitted to the original DBR1 race cars. Its amazing what, with a bit patience, one can find offered for sale on eBay. The wing mirrors are of course modern design and are of a type fitted to at least 2 of the original DBR1's today. They are very discreet and work well too.

Went for a blast in deepest Essex, Chipping Ongar all the way north to Haverhill via Finchingfield and back, great route for anyone in that general area ( I'm based in East London) lovely twisty roads and well surfaced for the most part. Only downside was getting stuck behind slower traffic in places but for the most part some nice hustling along. Stopped at the Fox Inn Finchingfield for lunch lovely steak Sambo... all in all a lovely morning/afternoon..oh and the car was a delight (V12Vs)

Looks awesome. You’re clearly pleased with the result - no hesitation in de-chroming?

Would you mind sharing who did it?

Thanks
Had them done at a local sign shop - CR signs in Stroud - the window surrounds could be done on the car, but the boot bar had to be taken off, which was a much bigger job, including taking out the rear lights ! Luckily my brother is an AM technician !

Yesterday actually. I delivered my '07 Vantage (with Prodrive enhanced engine and exhaust) manual to Bamford Rose from them to fit their uprated twin plate clutch and lightened flywheel. I'm off to Le Mans for the Classic tomorrow so won't be able to collect until next Wednesday. I'll report back on gear change quality etc. after driving a few miles...

I've just noted that white stuff on mine when the mirrors are folded in - is it alloy corrosion?

I'm afraid so Ken. The area that becomes exposed when the mirrors fold in is part of the mirror assembly too (as opposed to the 'stalks'). The original black coating pretty much just dropped off the mirror assembly once I'd removed it from the stalk.

Not a pretty picture......

Very pleased... another thumbup for Rancidswan..

Whilst inspecting the old girl in between coats I had a good look at the wipers...

Drivers side mirror..

Took my wife in the DB11 to Henley for the Regatta. Nice drive out and got to visit the Aston stand and see the new DBSS and Vantage. The DBSS looked great but the matt black isn’t really my thing. My wife called it a definite Boys toy which is about right. The Vantage in red looked really good. Also got the word that Rolland royce are lending me a Wraith Black Label for a weekend so that should make an interesting comparison. All in all a good day.

Wow that's a great result, you must be delighted with that!

Seeing these pictures yesterday you made me inspect my own stalks today... thankfully they still look really good!

Very pleased, thank you thumbup I'd had the car a few months before I noticed the corrosion, but once seen it seemed to get worse every time I looked frown The drivers side will have to be door card off and stalk removed as the corrosion goes down to where the stalk meets the door so a risk of damage if not removed... Wiper assembly doesn't look too onerous to remove but would definitely be near impossible to do a thorough job (and without risk of damaging the bonnet) if attempted in situ...

My wheel centre caps are all corroded around the outer edge and there are some very small areas of pain degradation on the wheels (painted/coated Anthracite) so next time new tyres are required (probably next year) it'll be a wheel refurb and new centre caps job too....

Then there's the interior to finish.... hehe
