Good god, what on earth for?
Bought a weekend with a RR at a charity auction planning to take my Dad out for his 80th birthday. Anyway due to logistical complications (not RR’s fault) it didn’t happen in time but I drove down to my parents and took them both out for lunch this weekend. dwell said:
Returning from Como, we crossed the border and entered the swiss autoroute system via a back street and realised once we were on the autoroute that we had not purchased the vignette - crossed the country expecting to be chastised at the German border but again not stopped and no follow up (it was 12 months ago)...
I have been across Switzerland without a vignette twice on their motorways and never had a problem. On both occassions I completely forgot to buy one, honest guv. I know a fair few have been pulled and fined so its definately not something I would repeat and put it down to my good fortune at the time.V12Manual said:
Got caught speeding in Switzerland last year after the day on the Baden track with AM on my way down to Lake Como. The fine arrived at the house almost before I got back. So it will be quick...
UK? I have been camera flashed thousands of times in Switzerland, nothing ever. As for the motorway pass if you weren't stopped there nothing will happen either. Not today, but yesterday evening.
My car is more 'garage queen' than DD and will be 9 years old this month, has now reached 17,000 miles but still looks new.
Set off at 9pm simply to enjoy driving my Vantage in the Worcestershire countryside.
Deserted roads, which is rare these days.
Clear moonlight sky, windows down, great exhaust sound, occasional full throttle.
WONDERFUL.

Yesterday we drove back down the Grimsel Pass
And up the Furka Pass
(James Bond themes playing on the stereo of course)
Down the Tremola
Then to the Goldeneye dam in Locarno
(James Bond music still on the stereo)
But today the DB9 relaxed by Lago Maggiore, as did it’s owners.
What a tremendous trip - on my wish list for sure to do with some fellow AM drivers one day!And up the Furka Pass

Getting stuck behind some Germans with a caravan all the way from Locarno wasn’t much fun, until we crossed the Italian border and as if by magic everyone suddenly wanted to drive much faster, overtake things and ignore many regulations prohibiting such things. I love driving in Italy!

To those of you who suggested 150,000 miles, do not worry.
You must be amongst the more youthful on here.
The more mature have experience of never seeing 100,000 on the odometer (99999 being the maximum, before 00000 again).
Mind you, in those days you were lucky if the engine lasted that long without a rebuild. How things change.
I said "was" as there are another 600 on it now as we've just returned from 5 days in Amsterdam
