Wishbone bushes
Discussion
david and graham ,
the splitter was a "blue point" clamp type , i did give it some force but gave up as any more may of damaged the upright,
im sure it was the heat from the angle grinder cutting the pin (after removing dust boot and grease)that released it, the only way i can see to apply heat safely to the part of the upright which receives the tapered pin is if you have an induction heat tool you could try heating the balljoints thread , i had read somewhere that this joint was very difficult to separate almost always requiring the upright be replaced, so unless you can split the bottom balljoint from the upright the most economical route is to chop the balljoint and buy a wishbone.
im pretty sure the rear bush is the tranny one , and the ball joint looks pretty standard although i havent identified it, the wishbone itself is a lovely AM specific casting of a robust design.( when i picked the new one up i was in two minds to hang it on my wall as art).
Like a few others on our forum i spend my life fixing cars , when i first saw the wishbone i thought theres 500+ quid.
at 260 odd plus VAT i dont think its out, plus its complete with both bushes and balljoint, im not saying its not worth reconditioning the old one,the only way i can afford to run a db9 is because i do the majority of the maintenance, I love developing repair methods and fixing the unfixable so good luck to anyone giving it a try.

just replaced RH lower wishbone on my 2005 DB9,.... the ungettable bush was surprise surprise maked FORD YC15-3A262-A and is a transit part.
I am having a similar 'creak' from my 05 DB9 suspension as I go over a speed bump or any real bump in the road. Sounds like bushes. Craig elam - did you only need to service the front bush on the lower control arm as the solution for yours? Or do you think it was the lower ball joint too? Do you think that ford part could just be press fit into the AM original arm? Did you change the upper control arm too? The creak in mine seems to come from the upper.
Any input would be appreciated....
hello steve
I had a seized castor bolt (which runs through the rear bush) and had to cut the wishbone off!!!, my initial plan was to identify / replace the rear bush and castor bolt, however the ball joint was impossible to split from upright and had to be cut in order to free the upright .if the upright had separated from the ball joint i could have gone down the refurb route but wanted to get back on the road. I really think the old bush could be replaced and the ball joint.
At that point i found the lower arm came with bushes and ball joint as a complete unit at 275+vat which i thought quite reasonable the guy at the dealers parts department said "if that had been a ferrari it would have been easy double that"
i think the creak / cracking noise was ball joint although its hard to find exactly where it came from , im pretty sure it wasnt the upper wishbone ( these noises can travel around the suspension and give a completely false indication)
An interesting point, i got my car with 16,000 miles on the clock and it creaked and cracked like hell when manoeuvring.
Ive still got my old R/H wishbone if anybody wants it to experiment with ,you can pick it up in sunny west yorkshire!

Hi Craig, just read this post, could have saved you a few quid I've got 2 new uprights with hubs paid under 200 quid off flea bay.
I have 2 questions for you what ever happened about the power flex bushes did any get made?
Secondly the ball joint in the wishbones are the pressed into the wishbone or are they cast in?
I haven't got any problems yet but my V8V has been stood on the drive for 4 months so I think a bit of TLC is due plus she's done 96k and last time I looked all the arms seemed original.
Cheers Dixie.

Resurrecting an old thread in the interests of adding to the list of generic parts that will save a few £££
£9 for a top quality replacement bush plus pressing in, or £300 for a new wishbone ?

Hi James - this seems to be front lower suspension arms, but needs some more investigating. Our Sport Pack cars have slightly different front suspension, so it needs a bit of time on Scuderia to work out exactly what’s what.
Luckily all my front suspension is off and soaking in XCO Rust blocker after being vapour blasted, so seems like a good opportunity to do some digging.
I’ve also emailed Dave at Powerflex as he has/had a V12V to see where they’re up to in terms of replacement bushes for Vantages.
Watch this space and if anyone else fancies some digging go for it. The more eyes on these things the better.

My nearside front control arm is creaking when I go over speed bumps so I'd like to add my name to the 'bush' list. Seems crazy to just throw away perfectly good components just because they cant be refurbished. I'm guessing you've all seen this?
