Great review Nijius! Very interesting to hear your thoughts on the sound, and how it compares to the Vanquish.

Great write up Nij, the car looks stunning in black, best photo I've seen of it so far.

Superb write up Nijius. You must have more spare time than me! Better than Autocars review, lol.
Proper enthusiast is our Nijius, glad you liked it.
Funny, just what I was thinking. Autocar should hire this guy and inject a bit of extra passion and 'real world vibe' back into their road tests!

Excellent report Nijius. I was at Gaydon the day before you and the black one came past me near the Heritage Centre. He kindly gave it an enthusiastic get away from the traffic lights. The car had a huge amount of presence on the road, far better than the pictures I had seen, and sounded pretty good, but not as good as the V12VR that was in front of me smile

What I coincidence, I was there too that day :-)

I must say when I first walked in, I thought the DB11 in the main foyer was a DB10 - nose on, the similarities are striking (and not in a bad way)

Looking at the DB11s in production, it certainly looks much better in teh flesh, in a real world environment, than on a stand and certainly than in the photos. There is no question it moves Aston on hugely so one can only imagine how large the leap will be to new/replacement Vantage

I am sure that in addition to the significant order book that already exists, it will become even more popular once people starting seeing DB11 out on the roads

Nice write up! I haven't had the chance to drive one but having been in and around static examples I had more or less the same thoughts. Can't wait to have a go in one though.

Thanks again for the kind words from people who've enjoyed reading the review. I recommend you get your test drives booked in for when the dealers start getting demonstrators in October... smile

Was anyone on Piston Heads NOT at Gaydon the last week...?? Haha. biggrin Were you all there for DB11 test drives as well? We should've organised an impromptu meetup there if I'd known... smile

I hope Jonby, that you have not chosen Carbon Black, as the colour for your AM-RB 001.

why, would that duplicate your RB001 colour ? :-) OK go on then, I'll choose a different colour for mine !

As it happens, we were shown the RB001 whilst I was there and utterly stunning it looks too

Also vanquish zagato was incredible in the flesh and no I wasn't there to spec one of those either, although there was a group from overseas at Gaydon on the same day to spec theirs

Regulars will know that like many others on here, I'll happily speculate til the cows come home if I'm not betraying any confidences but in this instance, my lips are firmly sealed. If anything comes of it, all will become apparent in due course :-)

I will say though it was about my 6th or perhaps even 7th or 8th visit to Gaydon and it's always a pleasure. Especially when you keep bumping into familiar faces from all sides of the business. I even bumped into Dave Richard's driver at a fuel station down the road who was filling up his (Dave's) Rapide......I know him from Le Mans as we sometimes end up in a friendly race over to our respective chateaus .......it really does give a warm glow going back to Gaydon and helps the Aston family feel.

It would have to be diavolo red for me with the zagato, the colour really suits it. My dealer was on holiday unfortunately though when they launched it frown

the one at gaydon was white and looked pretty good

Maybe they will do a soft top so you'll get a second chance - someone has rendered one online and it looks jawdropping even though you lose the double bubble roof and I imagine also, the unusual side window shape, unless they do it without the conventional soft top roof in a barchetta style a little like DB7 AR1

If coupe is £500k, I guess the volante would only be about £600k :-)

And no before rumours start, I wasn't there to discuss a zagato volante !
