Finally I Am One Of You
Discussion
After asking many questions on here , reading literally hundreds of threads , months scouring YouTube , reading every single review I could find on the web and talking to friends I finally did it .
Without a test drive (that happened much later ) I have ordered my first Aston Martin.
A Triple Black v12 vantage s coupe , manual , carbon GT12 doors , special stitching to seats and rear ,carbon seats , machined carbon badges , power upgrade , titanium exhaust , black rotary controls , carbon centre plate console (q item instead of the black piano finish) , lightweight wheels , and the carbon hood vents and side strikes as well as a few other bits . Rarely have I ever been so excited waiting for a car to be built .
We are also working on a bespoke one off car (project dreadnought) , based on the v12vs manual that I can't say much about at the moment but it will be a keeper . Something to treasure and enjoy until the end of time, right up there with the beloved Carrera Gt and F50 . After all , how many v12's will the world see again with a naturally aspirated engine and a manual box?
I respectfully ask sanctuary from the Porsche forum , The Luftwaffe will not be happy ...
I am very grateful for all your help and hope to get together with many of you for aston events and meets when I am in the uk next .
Happy to answer any questions and the dreadnought project eager to join the conversation on here properly , seems like a great crowd .

Thank you gents , I couldn't believe how much fun it is to drive . I loved the gearbox , the noise , the size and shape of the car .
It drives so well , a rare car that actually feels special at sane speeds . I found the steering and brake feel absolutely superb and the extremely playful rear end was an absolute joy .
I can't believe I hadn't discovered this car earlier .
Funny enough I was a little afraid of the reliability but looking deeper into things the actual drive train seems to be basically bomb proof . Sure there are niggles here and there but that's to be expected on a hand made car and those are sorted easily enough anyway .
What really shocked me was the factory , I couldn't believe how hand made and unique each car is . The nearest thing I have seen to the production line is the 918 production line .
I think Aston should make more about how actually hand made these cars are , I for one had no idea .

Sounds great
Is the first car you mention a MY17 or MY18 car ?
Interesting that they have been happy to fit a power upgrade & titanium exhaust to a manual car (thus far they have said it's for flappy paddle boxes only) and for that matter, it would appear they are fitting at the stage of production rather than as a post-production extra
Your other one sounds really special - am sure it will be an amazing process for you
What part of the world are you in btw ?

The power upgrade and exhaust will be fitted afterwards at the dealer matey , on the dreadnought Im trying to do something more extreme . That will be a job for works or Q.Is the first car you mention a MY17 or MY18 car ?

Wow, you've specced an awesome car! Its great to hear your story too, and yes, the car is built from the best endurance tested components available from around Europe, making it pretty bombproof!!
Congratulations......

Sounds a fantastic spec and look forward to seeing pictures when you take delivery.
Project Dreadnought sounds like it will be fun and look forward to hearing more as it progresses.
Welcome to the wonderful world of Aston!!!!
Thank you . I have found your posts extremely helpful FYI .Project Dreadnought sounds like it will be fun and look forward to hearing more as it progresses.
Welcome to the wonderful world of Aston!!!!
The dreadnought will be wild , think 911R to the gt3RS . Apparently the OK has to be given at a board level , so fingers and toes are constantly crossed .
We are ready with the colours , Aston are creating "doom grey" which is like a quantum but more "liquid" in appearance . It will really pop in the twilight

Sounds like a manual GT12 without a rear wing - would be a stunning piece of kit
Looking forward to the updates
Thank you .Looking forward to the updates
That's the very very basic principle but I'm trying concuiously to not look like that . Expect many differences but the car will be a wide body for sure . It will share a little bodywork with a GT12 / GT8 but there will be enough significant differences to really tell them apart . I wouldn't want to step on GT12 /8 owners toes but at the same time I have no desire for them to step on mine .
I'll keep thread updated and I believe aston will push this on social media to show what they can really do when the lunatics truly take over the asylum

Wow, what a thread!
Congrats on the V12VSM spec matey, it sounds truly amazing, only potentially trumped by the Dreadnought! I just cant wait to hear the final details of this.

Reality is GT12 saved relatively little weight with CF panels and other 'standard' items - seems mostly through options like perspex windows and lightweight battery, no seat motors, etc - all very achievable. Engine is more or less achievable on current V12VS, brakes not too unsimilar, so in reality, it's about getting that wider track in.
Will be following with interest !
Yes absolutely very little real weight saved . It's more the look and feel of the wider track I'm trying to create , I think Aston will find a way to make it work .Will be following with interest !
Fingers crossed
