I went back to Works today to pick up the beast and the white DB11 is still sitting there for sale. Been there a good 2-3 weeks now. Could we be about to start seeing some price flexibility in these to shift them. I'd like to think not as it would be good for AM to get away from discounting......as has been discussed many times on here.

Well, here's a layman' s (or dare I say layperson's) view. Less about driving and more about - '"objective beauty "

Quite!
That said, the bulk of the 'criticism' levelled at the car from some people on this forum has been about its shape; absolutely no one has a problem with the performance!
I guess the tenent of the article is right, Objective Beauty is the quintessential differentiator between an Aston Martin & its competitors; the performance is a given.

What he paid for the car is irrelevant. What he is offering it for is!!

I beg to differ, it is absolutely relevant! If he paid over the odds then he's got a bigger deficit to make up, hence why he's displaying panic by selling it at below RRP!

We'll see!
In any event, I'm gobsmacked by the Instagram post; clearly this guy isn't very good at poker!! Why would you declare you're, 'Slashing prices'! What does that say to your customers, 'I'm a flapper who panics if something doesn't sell'!!! I certainly won't be buying a car from him, God only knows what'll be wrong with it!

/voice of reason voice on

Come on guys, reality check. The DB11 is lovely but its being "mass produced" as far as Aston Martin's are concerned. I can order a brand new one to my exact specification and expect to get it delivered in 4 months time (or I can wait for the inevitable DB11 S). Why would I pay list price (or even Tom Hartley Jrs, £10k under list) for a used example that's already got 600 miles on the clock being sold by a non-franchise dealer? Madness to think anyone would pay more, surely?

It doesn't mean its not a great car. It's just the way the world is

It tells me a lot about him , he knows the market well enough to have to reduce his asking price , he's just being realistic about a car he has for sale , nothing more nothing less.

Regardless of what he's selling it for he's well aware that you cannot make the profit he would expect on every car you have for sale.

A small bit of cake is better than no cake.

" God knows what's wrong with it " suggests you are the one in a flap about it , not him.

Typical PH'er overreacting to a non story.

When I bought my V8V, it had 40% off the list price
Should I worry about what might be wrong with my car, Humphrey? - smile

What is that politicians saying?
Economics dear boy.

Agreed Jon, it all about economics.
Acutely aware that perhaps I could be accused of defending the DB11 a little too strongly on this thread (& I don't even own one!!) & I will therefore cease & desist. smile

No - your contributions are always enjoyed.

Always good fun to discuss a topic here, where it is only the insiders who know the answers.
They might read this forum, but couldn't possibly comment.

Yeah.... I have to say the abuse towards the DB11 is a bit harsh. I mean I'm a hater because it has turbos and that's just plain wrong! but actually it goes well and isn't bad at all. Still prefer a Vanquish but it's not a bad car smile Giver it 10 years people will cry out for an AM with turbos and petrol instead of an AM with batteries!

I agree. I am looking to firm my order and I would not be paying over the odds on a second hand car not to my spec.

Greedy F?*^+ers😤

Sorry meant flippers. 😝

I feel a bit sorry for them - they addressed the 'they all look the same' thing and then we all go its too different.

If there is an issue with the car it certainly isn't the comfort, performance or dynamics. The press are really rating it here. Seems to be 3 bullseye's there...

So make the 'looks' thing relative as we get used to it. I'd definitely pick that DB11 over any Maser, Merc, Fezza, Audi and probably most Porsches. The 'issue' (if there is one) is that I probably wouldn't as its VERY heavily priced in my opinion. I'd need a lot of convincing not to get a loaded R8 Spyder and a lot of change... Or of course, more likely, a Vanq...

I remember my fully loaded Rapide being £152k list - this one tops it by quite a margin... Ohh the price of turbos these days wink

I really want to drive one for a day (attired in a PROPER car colour not that baby blue + formica dashboard nonsense) and then rave about it everywhere... Needs more hype! I'm yer man Andy (and its in all our interests really...)!
