one more technical question!

When I built my last caterham you disconnected the inertia switch to prevent the fuel pump supplying fuel. My academy car doesn't have a inertia switch as far as I can see so to crank oil pressure can I just:

1. take out the fuel pump fuse or/and
2. disconnect the fuel line to the fuel rail

any thoughts?

You only need to take the fuse out.

I just disconnect the injector plug, connect a second battery and crank the engine

Presumably with the plugs out, it doesn't take much ooomph (technical term) to crank for oil pressure?

I’ve always done this with the plugs out since I don’t see any point in giving unnecessary grief to the battery or the starter motor. It can take what feels like a long time before the oil pressure gauge registers any significant pressure, particularly if the engine has an Apollo tank and has been idle for some months (with or without a non-return valve).
If you are changing the oil I would also recommend filling the sump, filter and Apollo tank separately to reduce the cranking time.

I personaly leave the plug in.
I have a couple of old heavy duties batteries from a truck, this is why i do it like this, and I now that nothing can fall into the cylinders!

I pour a liitle amount of clean oil in the cylinder after a long lay up
