A fair point but then you could get a 2006 4.3 for £30k and add another £18k for the supercharger.
I think you'd have to add at least another £30k for the cheapest V12, which takes it into a different bracket.
Usually its a good idea to upgrade the suspension and brakes too on a 10 year old car...before adding lots more power...although you dont have too.

Comparing a 10 year old 4.3 with engine modifications and a few year old V12 Vantage is a bit like apples and pears ....even the differences to say a MY2012 4.7 are really noticable.

So there is limited appeal of a £20k supercharger kit, with a "kit only" warranty....

The previous opinion of the folk on here, is that supercharging the V8 is not a popular idea.
I presume the reasons are cost, and also fear about the unknown future reliability.

If there is a lack of interest, that will presumably be reflected should a supercharged car be later offered for sale.
Certainly the kit could be removed prior to sale, but if it was known to have been fitted, then the engine reliability worry arises again.

The reliability concern may be overplayed, but we don't know.

£20k and warranty only on the supercharger limits the appeal to many I guess

if you can afford a newer car, then why not stretch to a few yr old V12 that will maintain value

if you can only afford and earlier cheaper car then you dont have £20k to spend on modifications

...who is the target market for this kind of conversion ?

Perhaps GT8 owners, who want GTE power.

I've talked to several people that are interested in supercharging older V8Vs. Cost is always the main problem, and it prevents people from bothering to look further into it. Those that do want to know it's reliable, but most people stop as soon as they see the price tag.

It appears so.

I did not bother to view, but think I saw a website which appeared to include a video of the conversion work being carried out on this car (shown in the picture above).

I supposed the cost in this instance, would have been no more than some of the original GT8 options.
At this level also, no need to worry about the reliability, because a new engine could be quickly popped in at any time.

I posted the same car on the first page. wink

Yes, manual GT8 with the GMR supercharger, literally went straight from the dealership to have it fitted. Owner has a supercharged 4.3 which was one of the first conversions done I believe and relatively high mileage now.

I assume at the owners cost as surely the supercharger means your warranty is void?
