I was of the "glossy primer" brigade with this China Grey and other versions that have appeared on other brands in recent years, but the Geneva car was very appealing, and when I walked past Mr.JWW`s I thought it looked damn good. Wouldn`t spec it personally though...
Some nice photos have come out since the embargo lifted, forget about colour for a while.

After the first AM customers have now test driven pre-production cars of the new Vantage last week, it turns out the infotainment system in these pre-production vehicles does not feature Apple Carplay/Android Auto and that the Mercedes Command infotainment does not seem to be of the latest generation.

I have absolutely no idea what the importance of this infotainment stuff is, but I thought I share it, as this seemingly means something to younger buyers. So all you can do is hope that this will be updated in the forthcoming production cars. Breaking News over.

First it is Ford taking a liking to the Aston Martin grille.
Now it looks as though Toyota have taken an interest, in the look of the new Vantage.
They even have a race car, but I suppose not for the WEC series, because I think they already compete in the WEC prototype class.
The motor manufacturing business is becoming ever more competitive, with customers being offered an increasing choice of apparently similar vehicles, particularly with SUVs.

Lucky me... My local Aston Martin dealership had the new Vantage on hand to drive. While I was impressed with the ride and the handling I couldn't get over the horrible exhaust note and subsequently I was underwhelmed by the new Vantage... perhaps with a manual transmission plus the quad sports exhaust I’ll warm to it. It made me appreciate my “analogue” 2013 Vantage S so much more.

Can someone fix this upside-down photo for me? Thanks...

It's going to be interesting seeing how it all goes. Remembering the last Vantage, when it was launched everybody was blown away by its styling but maybe not by its performance - it was not a real match for things like a 911 in the driving department.
This one seems to have nailed the driving bit, but is less of a wow universally on the looks front.
I agree, so will this make the old models more desirable and push second hand values up?This one seems to have nailed the driving bit, but is less of a wow universally on the looks front.
Some nice pics from the press pack:
As I've previously stated I absolutely love the new design, including the nose. But two things would improve it for me.
1. A couple of vents on the bonnet to break up the expanse of metal.
2. Better wheel designs. I really dislike both styles, they're far too fussy. I'd like to see the simple design of the DB11 V8 on one.
Edit:

I wonder if there could ever be an engineering solution to be able to lose the panel gap across the front, i.e. clamshell or extended bonnet, because that black car above looks so much better with an invisible gap.
The Mk1 of course has two longitudinal panel gaps between the bonnet and front wings, but somehow they don't seem to be as noticeable as a front panel gap.
What does the front panel gap on the GTE race car look like, because I expect the wings, bonnet and front panel are all one piece (for quick removal and replacement) ?
As you suggest, extending the bonnet forward between the lights might be the solution, thereby concealing the gap completely.

A forward opening hood like the DB11 would solve the problem, the added expense would further drive up the cost of the car. No doubt add weight too. I don't foresee Aston making changes any time soon, if ever. The die is cast.Beefmeister said:

Agreed on both points, my dealer told me vents will be on the future S model. And I’m replacing the wheels on mine ASAP. As I've previously stated I absolutely love the new design, including the nose. But two things would improve it for me.

Unlikely to be updated Merc were sneaky when they signed the deal with aston, they locked in the current platform of electronic architecture with aston. Deal done then updated their software etc soon after ... aka aston wouldn't get the latest tech unfortunately and from what I gather they won't be either which is a huge shame imo. http://www.astonmartin-forum.de/viewtopic.php?f=79...
