Am I a bellend for asking where the front number plate is?
I hope not. Interesting point about the plate; originally the drum was being banged about the new Vantage needing one to break up the grill, yet this one looks great without, it could look strange with one? Regardless let's hope new Vantage owners find their way over here.Phil74891 said:
I reckon if AML used that black one as the launch car, then this would be 137 pages of fk me I want one...........
Maybe I’m behind the times but I wasn’t aware a manual was coming. First to be mated to the particular AMG V8 apparently

Been the plan the whole time. First and only way to get the AMG engine with manual gearbox, not sure if anyone else is going to bother. Works perfect for AM's niche. Nice to see a manufacturer stick to the stick, so to speak
Is a stick these days still so desirable? Whats the new vantage gearbox like now?The ZF 8-speed auto is perfectly fine for an automatic transmission. If you floor the gas in auto mode, there's a noticeable delay as the engine builds boost and the transmission drops gears, but it's a rare thing that you have to force to happen. For normal driving, it feels smooth and natural.
There's still a joy to be had by rowing your own gears. Figures on paper aren't everything, and I'd rather enjoy my cars by being a part of them than to concern myself with meaningless performance figures that will be trumped by the next generation of cars. My opinion, of course.

I think it's interesting that Aston chose not to use either Merc's 9 speed auto or their dual clutch. The ZF 8 in my DB11 is superb, and better than the Merc 9 speed in my wife's Merç. However, I think acceleration stats suffer from the lack of a launch control mode on this transmission. There's still a joy to be had by rowing your own gears. I don't think it was AM's choice - Merc wouldn't have allowed it. This is also why AM have to use their own Bosch ECU as much of the Benz's programming would be closely guarded I'd imagine. Personally, I very rarely use launch control in the real world. So I won't miss it.
New vs old Vantage in this vid. Interesting comparison if you can get past this 'infuencer's' strong personality: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLNM-zja9GU
AM surely give these youtubers cars in order to promote their new product over the old.
One thing I noticed was that road noise in the new Vantage appears slightly better. The conclusion is - except for the V12 soundtrack - the new Vantage is, as a sportscar, vastly superior.

"Last year was the first time that Aston Martin became a profitable company, in all of it's existence."
Nonsense.
An interesting comparison between the two cars exhaust sounds.
What are your opinions about that?

Jon, my personal opinion is that the V12 in the old Vantage sounds better in that test. I'm also aware it sounds absolutely magnificent with a simple X-Pipe! The new turbocharged V12s can be made to sound similar with the right setup I believe.
The new Vantage exhaust, however, suprised me. It's pretty decent for a stock setup. And in that test certainly sounded more aggressive. In real life I very much liked the sound. Certainly better than an AMG GT. Some have suggested the need for an aftermarket exhaust; AM spent much effort in distinguishing the sound and I would be cautious not to create a sound like an AMG GT.

All other backward looking nonsense terms to make you feel better about going slower than the auto car 😂😂😂😂

A vantage isn’t a race car, it isn’t all about going fastest. It’s not even a supercar.
I’m in the process of looking to buy an older one at the moment and dont in any way want an auto. Especially as it’ll be a weekend only car.
Lightning Silver over Copper Tan leather.
This was my car, although I’ve come to my senses and decided not to go ahead with it (I’m too skint to be spending what money I do have running a brand new Aston) so if anyone likes the spec I suggest you go and have a word with Dean at Grange Birmingham...
