Indeed it is! byebye

I saw mention earlier that I didn’t comment on the driving dynamics. Basically this is for three reasons:

1) I filmed the whole thing myself in about 2.5hrs, very pushed for time
2) every other review goes on about the dynamics, we all know they’re amazing
3) the in-car talking section about the handling was cut off because the sodding battery died on my GoPro <facepalm>

I enjoyed watching your film. You are a very natural presenter in front of the camera.

The driving dynamics must be excellent
Much better electronics than the old model.
Complete car control now only needs one hand.

You may have noticed a small reference to PH in that engine bit hehe
I did have a wry grin at that point.

Had a little drive this morning, quick car, much more planted than my V12S. Very linear delivery, very sterile and uneventful compared to the V12, the stupid contrived clicks and pops don't help either!

I could probably ignore the front end "issues" in the right colour scheme (Grange Welwyn have a lovely metallic blue one in the show room) would consider if I was in the market for a fast, semi-practical day to day but ultimately probably not what I'd buy as a fun second/weekend car.

Hey ho!

Hey ho!
That pretty much summed up my impressions

Very accomplished, great as an everyday car, but not sufficiently exciting compared to my V12S to consider swapping for a weekend toy.

To be fair, we are comparing the entry level first new vantage to the last/top of the range of the outgoing car - I know this argument is flawed, but arguably it's a little like comparing an outgoing 991 turbo S to an incoming 992 carrera

Hey ho!
I think your comment about a daily use performance car is right, and probably good for sales . A 911 and AMG are more every day than weekend

That's a very good way of describing it. Lord only knows what the AMR version of the new Vantage will be like!

I doubt you will have to wait long to find out, there seems to be a new model/derivative/special announced every day ending with a y at the moment.

Yep, I'm looking forward to what comes next. It probably wouldn't take much to turn the car into something I'd buy, particularly if it included some cosmetic tweaks :-)

HR Owen have the best one I’ve seen to date, although at £160k.....! The quad exhaust definitely improves the back end and the CF pack helps the looks imo.

Someone asked earlier about the standard grey trim, here’s a China Grey example with it:

Doug's review. Interesting as he is an owner of the previous gen Vantage.
Funny reponse in the comments section: "The older engines have "FOMOCO" on all the parts, as far back as the DB9 that I had the pleasure of replacing the pistons in". I didn't even know this so I looked up an OEM AM V12 5.9 piston and it actually does have 'Ford' stamped on it! So I don't know why there is this whole argument of AM going with equally excellent AMG engines??

I've always had black cars and they do look good, however I really think the Vantage design (new & old) benefits from lighter colours that show off its lines. I am trying to decide between Lightning Silver & Magnetic Silver (with a tan interior):

Thoughts? They both look brilliant!

Alex

the darker one gets my vote on the new Vantage

but the Lightning silver is a beautiful colour - it just lets too much emphasis on the darker trims

IMHO

An interesting snippet on this aspect has now surfaced.

Aston Martin in the past have referred to the, 'Aston Martin Engine Plant' in Cologne.

If you read the risk section of the Company's stock market prospectus, there is reference to, 'engines built by Ford'.

(Don't tell Speedraser?)

This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. Ford creates a v12 out of the v6 Duratec architecture for a show car and then sometime later hands it to AM to engineer it into a production engine to be made at its Cologne engine facility. Don't care if all the internals are stamped Ford; it was only ever used in Aston vehicles. Since Ford owned Aston at the time, it is not remotely the same as using an AMG engine found in lots of other Mercedes products.
