Not overwhelmed with joy,to be honest.
Never been keen on those slitty headlights or shark nose slant,as sampled on the DB10.
To me it appears "feminised" ,which is probably why George likes it.
I like my Astons to look "butch" which is why I'm such a fan of the One77.
If I was offered a choice I'd go for the look of the current V12 Vantage.
It is well known you prefer the male form to the female one!Never been keen on those slitty headlights or shark nose slant,as sampled on the DB10.

I think the front of those renders looks good, a nice mix of style and agression (whereas the more modern Aston designs seem to go way OTT on the latter), the rear not so much. Of course it is just a render so we will have to wait and see what it actually looks like. I hope they did a better job than of the DB11 though

Obviously they could change the name, but the present model has become so well known, both as a road car and a winning racing car, and also it is the highest production AML model, so I can see the value in continuing with the same name on this particular occasion.
Various manufacturers often continue the same model name of course, which are then referred to by the nickname, Mk1, Mk2 etc.
We shall see.
( Sorry avinalarf, this is my serious side today. )

I didn't realise that you had a humorous side.

I like it !!!!Jonby I'm dissapointed by your comment .
I have read many of your very long apposite comments on many topics concerning things like engines, brakes, tyres, performance and lots of other technical stuff that quite frankly I don't understand and have no relevance in my life.
So what I'm saying is,you keep to your turf and I'll keep to my nonsense.

And I do like that name ! It just makes me smile :-)
So if you want to keep to your turf, come up with a name that makes me smile more. I'm the punter, you guys are the comedians, your job is to entertain
On the subject of names, I see today's V8 DB11 has ASTON MARTIN huge labelling on the boot

Perhaps it is just for the American market cars, where rumour (or rumor) has it, people say, "What is that?".
I was once asked by a filling station cashier, "Is that a Bentley?"
Apart from that one occasion, most UK people seem to instantly recognise an Aston Martin.
I prefer the car without the shouty name on the back.
Perhaps there will be a Q cost option - 'Delete Rear Name', but I think I have told that joke before.
I have not had time, but have thought about doing some line drawings, showing side silhouette view outlines of various recent Aston Martin models.
Even including the Vulcan, I think many of the outlines would be fairly similar. If so, it would show the distinctive, recognisable pedigree of the marque.

Are your staff giving you hassle today Steven?
Captains of industry are supposed to be able to cope with all problems.
I don't think Jonby is an undertaker. He knows so much about AML, that he might even be Dr. Palmer.
You are possibly confused with Jockman.
Dear Dr Palmer,
please do not call the new car "Vantage" again!
The current Vantage should stand out as an icon in the model history of the marque like every other discontinued Aston Martin. In the past this has been successfully achieved partly by renaming the relevant model successor (if there has been one at all) thus letting the discontinued model shine as a solitaire. For me this is part of the tradition of the marque and gives the owners the feeling of owning a "unique" car that will hold its value, individuality and uniqueness for generations of Aston Martins to come and will not be diluted by a restyled and technically enhanced successor of the same model name. What distinguishes Aston Martin from other brands is that there is no constant facelifting at regular intervals which will (at least) partly obliterate the predecessor in many cases. This is one of the main reasons that I bought a brandnew Aston Martin (my very first) two weeks ago and no other marque - and you can guess it, it´s a V8 Vantage S of course (to be properly introduced in this forum in due course).
Claiming this for the current Vantage of all things may perhaps seem strange as one could argue that in my logic re-using this name has already somewhat disturbed the heritage of the former Vantage cars. All I can say is: The same mistake should not be repeated.
My viewpoint: The new design with the new technology deserves a new name.
Yours sincerely,
Emilio Largo

On the name front, you'd think they'd stick with Vantage (there was no change to the Vanquish). But if something new was needed:
Venison (because of the AMG meatiness)
Vampire (planes)
Victor (more planes)
Valerie (Amy Winehouse related, looked good, sounded nice)
Valentina (sophisticated, 'European'...requires loafers, a cashmere sweater, and a baggy scarf)
Venus (feminine, for the modern gent who's in touch with his female side while peering into those undersized vanity mirrors).
Vesper (Bond link, job's a good'un, not a moped)
Virtue (sounds a bit intellectual and pompous)
I'd stick with Vantage though.

When I pass my mortal coil I have commisioned him to make a bespoke coffin for me in the shape of my DB9V.
In some countries,I forget where, could be Cuba or Mexico,it is a tradition that bespoke coffins are made in all sorts of designs that appeal to a person.
I think that's a grand idea.
So when I pass, and I'm sitting there in my Aston ,roof down ,black leather jacket, jeans and Raybans,Temptaions playing on the radio,I shall have the pick of those 72 Virgins awaiting me.
They won't be virgins for long.
