Don't suppose you have any more pics? That's one of the interior/exterior colours I'm looking to spec. Too bad I'm in Australia. Looks sensational!

Jon, my personal opinion is that the V12 in the old Vantage sounds better in that test. I'm also aware it sounds absolutely magnificent with a simple X-Pipe! The new turbocharged V12s can be made to sound similar with the right setup I believe.
V12 Vantage S in the video is fitted with the Performance Pack (black magnesium inlet manifolds and carbon diffuser can be seen in the video).
I personally don't think the turbocharged V12S (providing a V12 is to be released in the new Vantage) can be made to sound similar than the naturally aspirated V12S fitted with said Performance Pack.

The moment turbochargers are involved, it can only make 'nice' sound production more difficult - the AM31 in the DB11 is a great sounding engine despite the turbos, but few would argue it can hold a candle to a de-catted AM29 N/A lump. In DB11 AMR and DBS form, it sounds quite special - as good asyou could hope for with forced induction probably.

The surprise for me was how much better the new vantage sounds than a 488 when I heard them together; a different approach by the two - Ferrari has gone for numbers and performance instead of old school emotion and engineering a pleasant noise. Aston has always taken pride in making the right noise in every car.

Must be hard to see it sat there but not yours - and you would have had the honour of the first new Vantage owner to post a pic on here!

I think the silver looks good, the shape is quite bold and the bright colours can make it too much, traditional Aston colours do work IMHO

Never thought silver was the best colour for the previous Vantage (I’m in a complete minority here!), but the new Vantage is stunning in it!

This was my car, although I’ve come to my senses and decided not to go ahead with it ...

After looking forward to being one of the first buyers, this must be very disappointing for you Venturist.

I think you are now the second PHer, who has told us they have cancelled their order.

Please tell us about the meaning of CEO Edition ?
I remember that the CEO personally inspected the first 1,000 DB11 cars, but have not heard anything related to the Vantage.

Jon, a dealer informed me that the CEO will inspect the first 750 cars of the new Vantage.

It is disappointing, but it wouldn’t be the right thing for me to buy the car at this moment in time. No fault of the product and I’m sure other owners will be very happy with theirs.

I believe the CEO edition note is because Andy Palmer was again personally inspecting the first X number of cars, the dealer left it in the window because they thought I’d get a kick out of it.

Intrigued to know how that front radiator looks with a reg plate on it.
Does it disguise the size of the grill or make things look worse?

it breaks up the huge mesh a bit. I think it looks a little better than front plates on a previous-gen Vantage looked (the bucktooth thing is just so off-putting to me, especially for US/etc plates that aren't as wide and thin as Euro plates). But front plates are against my religion so I'm not a fan regardless lol.

The full-tan interior looks really good. We've been getting obnoxious colors here in the US, which makes the interior look cheap. I mentioned it somewhere, and I'll say it again, the obnoxious launch colors aren't doing AML any favors.

I have heard there were a lot of issues with the wheels and they did not meet standards so had to be sent back, the manufacturer has subsequently gone bust. Not sure how true any of that is but could explain the lack of new cars coming through.

Badly cast, porous, out of balance? I guess there's all manner of ways they can fk up wheels in the manufacturing stage.

Aston Martin seem to have had problems with wheel supply for a while. It certainly held up a number of the GT8s being delivered

It must be. How sympathetic were the dealership with the deposit?

I think Venturist is making the sensible decision on more than one front (for example it's not a bad idea to wait like I am for issues to be ironed out).

  • Aston Martin - if you are reading this, give us more wheel choices!!! A five-spoke design would be welcomed!
Thanks for the picture Nick. Copper tan is my 1st choice for interior - was wondering if Venturist optioned contrast stitching. I am thinking red stitching & red calipers. I have to say that either way it looks classy.
